To be fair, it seems the one safe way to do NFTs is to create them to sell to others. Especially since you do not lose your own rights to the work.

Doesn't help. This guy was telling me it was artists own fault that they hadn't minted their own NFTs first, which is entitled splaination anyway but whatever. So someone posted examples where there were all these duplicate or near duplicate copies of the NFTs he was using to "prove" they were good for artists.

If they sell people WILL crop your image and remint it as a new NFT and nobody in the brosphere gives a shit.
