ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's veto of a measure to expand access to abortion in Maryland was overridden on Saturday by the General Assembly, which is controlled by Democrats.

The state will end a restriction that only physicians can provide abortions. The new law will enable nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and physician assistants to provide them with training. It creates an abortion care training program and requires $3.5 million in state funding annually. It also requires most insurance plans to cover abortions without cost.

Oh, come on, Trump's corruption is just not front page news material. He's a has been at this point. We have fresh new evidence of him doing bad things every day since he started running for office 7 years ago. Nothing ever comes of it, so it's just a dog bites man story at this point. We should be happy that the NYT still reports on this stuff at all. Even on page 15, the facts are in a paper of record, and in the end, that's what's really important.

Most of us remember being horrified at the police brutality in this video, against an elderly man, during the BLM protests in 2020. Turns out, the courts see no problem with police brutalizing an innocent 75 year old for being present in their 'personal space'.

It always surprises me when the corrupt and fallen parent can still raise decent and just children. Must be the mom.

As a younger person, I'm not so surprised. I know a LOT of these people it can be argued have always had a certain latent racism and tolerance for corruption and all that hiding down deep; but it's only broken out like RELATIVELY recently. There's people I personally knew who were fairly centrist when I was growing up that just absolutely went over the falls when Obama got elected. They were radicalized.

I'm guessing this was one of those guys. I bet he had pretty decent values while his kid was growing up and that's what the kid learned; and then Trump happened.
