I chose it because of a thing I learned from my brother who used silly German words as usernames in old school text games. He found German names would intimidate Americans, so I took a mix of Arabic and German for the same reason. And now I'm kind of stuck with it.

With so many Germans in this state and many Somalis it's not intimidating at all ...

Now on the other hand, an ENGLISH name ... *shudders*

I didn't make it down to the "Hands Off!" protest today. Neighbors said they thought the crowd was around 50k people here in San Diego. I just really don't believe in protests anymore, the media news cycle is so good at erasing them entirely that it seems like it doesn't matter.

Nobody cares as long as it's "peaceable protestation". And then people get locked up deported and used as an example of how bad "THEY" are if they do anything more newsworthy.

It's been a chocolate chip cookies and cabernet afternoon, reading and sitting in the sun now that it's warm enough outside to veg. Glad people protested, but things are going to continue to get worse until the people that voted for the felon and the dissolution of our constitutional republic wake up and realize that they're getting fucked by the people they threw their support behind.

Up until a year ago I've had the same first-initial-last-name@yahoo email address I'd been using since 5th grade. Back when it was like, both my YIM and MSN Messenger handle! There were a couple of emails I made for special reasons but I'd still been using that one the whole entire time.

Last year though I closed all of those when I moved to a paid email provider.

Ever since addresses expanded beyond 8 characters, The Ohio State University has issued lastname.# email addresses. Mine is a ".1" address, meaning no one with my last name was in the system 12 years ago. There still isn't another. I nearly always get my name when I sign up for a new service.

Yes., that tracks completely. I have ended up having to get refunds because some of them would not take a no for opening door, so I told them to take it back, I was cancelling the order.

The latest news I've read is that, tragically, no one survived this incident. Of the six people on the helicopter, only two were still alive when found, but were declared dead when they arrived at the hospital.

I have to add, I have a hard time with motivational type posters and the like. Nothing against being positive, but I really dislike the type of glib posts on social media that are photos of a quote in a coloured background, or in this case, a little video of the head of a guy being an asshole pretending to know all about how to stay positive.

Maybe it helps others, idk, so…
