Sounds familiar?

The Buja people who live here say that as mining companies extract wealth from the mountain, they leave behind a trail of damaged roads and bridges, hazardous pollutants and dirty air. Cracks can be seen on houses and blast debris is everywhere.

Now 50 families in the village have been told by a Chinese mining company that they will have to leave their homes and land. People in four other villages in the district fear they will also lose their ancestral lands.
Mineworkers speak of poor working conditions. At another mine in Mutoko, workers give accounts of beatings and poor pay.

“Imagine going to work every day for over 12 hours and getting $50 at the end of it all. When I get home I am tired. My home knows no peace,” one worker tells the Guardian.

“My friend was beaten with a steel rod and another 17-year-old boy had his arm broken after coming to work late. He was given $250 as compensation after villagers complained.”

Scotland’s largest parents’ organisation is calling for the SNP government to withdraw its schools’ health and wellbeing census, which has attracted opprobrium for asking 14-year-olds about their experience of anal sex.

The controversial poll has united rightwing pro-family campaigners and progressive children’s rights advocates, with both groups fearing it may end up causing harm to the young people it intends to help.
I have to say the privacy concerns would worry me a lot, too.

This was a big local story, because it happened only a couple of towns over from where I live. Word was going around on the local social media to not use that shop. There are plenty of other auto shops.
And that's been true like everywhere that I've lived, at least. You don't always have choices about everything, but in the US at least you can definitely be picky about your auto shop.

They should do the same to Jesse Watters as they did to the guy who sent her those messages.
But they won't.
Fauci calls on Fox News to fire host who urged 'kill shot' in 'ambush' interviews

I very much doubt if Fox will fire him.
They'll probably give him a raise. 😡
Jesse Watters enjoys, of course, the protection of the First and Second Amendments, while we don't. He's looking at a short prison sentence, I think -- a few months -- and he won't get his gun back.

If someone acts on his words, though....
He's not TFG. There's no "let Watters be Watters", except maybe at Fox.
If someone shoots Fauci or tries to, the legal system may or may not do what it should. But there would be one hell if a civil suit.
I think Fauci should sue him anyway.

Hehehe.

A group of North Carolina voters told state officials on Monday they want U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn disqualified as a congressional candidate, citing his involvement in last January’s rally in Washington questioning the presidential election outcome before a Capitol riot later that day.

Cawthorn’s office quickly condemned the candidacy challenge of the Republican, which was filed on behalf of 11 voters with the State Board of Elections, which oversees a process by which a candidate’s qualifications are scrutinized. The voters contend that Cawthorn, who formally filed as a candidate for the 13th District seat last month, can’t run because he fails to comply with an amendment in the U.S. Constitution ratified shortly after the Civil War.
The 1868 amendment says no one can serve in Congress “who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress . . . to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”

You ever see an article and bookmark it because it's basically a get out of jail free card? For me, this is one of those articles. The most obnoxious Fox News citing relatives I have are devout, conservative Catholics. Fox News published this article full of pure heresy, questioning the authority of the pope, on multiple issues. I love this article, because from now on, every time the crazy people cite Fox News, I can just say that I don't associate with heretics and end the conversation right there. Either that or watch them get mad and storm off, which is way more fun than actually talking about politics or social issues with them.

Maybe this is a way to 'own the conservatives', like 'owning the libs'? I guess? I feel dirty just typing that.

Whatever... I don't care if it's trolling. It's a way to make spending time with my obnoxious family easier.
