I remember watching a different video a few years ago about how someone tried to create a rumor of a secret cult or something in There.com.

I was heavily involved in There.com before SL. When it came back from the dead, I checked it out again a few years ago and it had become a weird Christian hellscape. I would totally believe a secret cult exists in There.

I remembered you and some other notable oldbies were from There. It's probably why one of SL's early last names was "Thereian"

Thereian was not the only last name. Karuma was one as well (one of the main hubs in There). When There unceremoniously shut down, LL did an outreach to bring in There users.

I find it really really amusing that there is a Christian Second Life out there, considering some of the wild shit I have seen in SL.

This made me wince:

Why wince? Because it's been done, and it was done a LONG time ago back in the PS2 Linux days, though I never tried Win95 on a PS2 myself. Bochs was too slow in general. Maybe qemu would have been better though I'm not sure Qemu was a thing back then. DOSbox worked fine, though the performance wasn't good enough for anything too new. something like Epyx Rogue was fine, Fallout 1 wasn't.

As for DOOM, the easiest way to do DOOM on a PS2 is a source port on PS2 Linux with the standard wads. It worked fine, personally tested with prboom and sdldoom. IIRC you could even configure it to use the DualShock.

The PS3 however was different, with that thing Qemu and Win95/Win98 worked. Was able to run PC Diablo on it, via Win95/98 just fine. (This was before DevilutionX). DOOM source ports also ran just fine. Dosbox worked with more stuff.

Limited Run Games is releasing an enhanced version of SNES DOOM in cooperation with Bethesda/id Software.

Bug fixes, Nightmare difficulty with respawning demons, more levels...including episode IV, higher framerate via an emulated enhanced "SuperFX3". Plus Rumble support with a special controller. And the most important thing....MORE SNES DOOM music.

SNES DOOM was my first DOOM and I still have a fondness for it. The first time I ever played the PC version via source port I was actually annoyed how mediocre the music was compared to the SNES version. (I think the source ports defaulted to soundblaster or adlib) DOOM Classic Complete on the PS3 also has anemic sound, it's trying to do something similar to the Rolands and failing. The modern ports to PS4/PS5/Switch, have good sound, reminds me of the SNES music but better.

DOOM SNES music:

This is a video about There.com. In many ways it was the predecessor to SL. I only poked my head in there a couple of times over the years but it is still going. There are still around 100 active users who are passionate about the world, the creations made and the friendships they have there.

I finally finished watching this, and I rather enjoyed it. It's rather interesting how this little community lives on there.

All this talk lately aboit NSFW games, I really wish they were required to list if the game has a male or female or optional or whatever protagonist.

I've gotten inspired to play Skyrim again. According to Steam, the last time I touched it was in 2021. Me and Annie (Fairplay Playfair in SL) played it for hundreds of hours. This time though, I want a walkthrough to show me all the things I missed. I found the official game guide on Ebay. It's a massive book pictured below, 650 pages. Then I need to figure out the essential mods I need nowadays that don't affect gameplay. Back then there was one that greatly improved the menus and another for the graphics. There were other ones I want like if you killed a mudcrab it went Oh Shit. And another where if a soldier said something about taking an arrow to the knee a big lightning bolt hit him. Anyway, great game.

Why play Skyrim when Oblivion mods let you Twerk and Get Griddy.

Oh noes, you mean I can't take Preston Garvey to Blackreach?

I found the official game guide on Ebay. It's a massive book pictured below, 650 pages.
That's the original one before Hearthfire, Dragonborn and Dawnguard. Won't cover all the Anniversary edition content either. (backpacks, extra homes & quests, etc) I replaced my copy of the original and Legendary version paperback ones with the hardbound Special Edition one, 1100 pages, also doesn't cover the Anniversary edition content.

I've kinda started following up answers with "are you sure?"

Amazing how often it reverses itself =D

Still hanging onto my Diablo IV account and playing seasons, The only thing I've proven is that I am too old and slow and crampy-handed to be much good. I get to the game max leverl of 60, then 100 or so Paragon points and i quit playing.

This season, I got a cosmetic pet baby goat! He picks up all the gold I throw on the ground and makes cute little "baaaa" noises!
