That was one of the earliest games I ever played. Myst before that of course.
Myst was on one CD IIRC. Riven had five, or six, and each scene took time to render on the equipment we had at the time. I plodded through it but wished the game had been made in the original Hypercard style for the sake of immersive enjoyment.

My first non-arcade game was on a single cassette tape. And I had to type it in.

Sid Meier's Civilization 7 has been announced. I won't bother linking the trailer though, it's a minute and a half long dramatic video with no gameplay whatsoever in it, lol

During the Xbox Showcase a couple of days ago, this second trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones game was released; among other bits it includes what seems to be almost an entire cinematic from the game and...lol, it looks convincingly like a scene you'd find in an actual Indiana Jones movie, in terms of the acting and dialogue. Like, I legit felt like I was watching a new movie.

And that little bit of the game cutscene looked better than the last 2 movies.

The sequel will probably be better.

The last one was almost ok without the weird
time travel but at the end.

So much going on in this. So much!

Actual missions! Racing! New planes - weird ones! Bridges you can fly under!

Blimps? Freaking hot air balloons??? OMG I want this so bad!

That aurora borealis at the end...magnificent.

Microsoft’s Xbox TV app now available on Amazon’s Fire TV Sticks - The Verge

The Xbox app will initially be available only on the Fire TV 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) and will be identical to the same app available on Samsung’s recent TVs and monitors. All you’ll need is a compatible Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to stream Xbox games.
Amazon's 4K Fire TV Sticks are MASSIVELY discounted with Xbox Cloud Gaming in tow | Windows Central

This is definitely not good news. I adore Stray.

Annapurna Interactive, the game company famous for publishing indie hits like Stray, Outer Wilds, Gorogoa, Neon White, What Remains of Edith Finch, and many more, may not be the same company anymore.

Bloomberg reports that the entire staff of Annapurna Interactive, the gaming division of Megan Ellison’s Annapurna, has resigned after failing to convince Ellison to let them spin off its games division into a new company. IGN is corroborating the report.

Former president Nathan Gary, Annapurna Interactive executives, and “around two dozen” staffers have resigned, Bloomberg reports. An Annapurna spokesperson told Bloomberg that existing games and projects will remain under the company. Annapurna didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment from The Verge.

One year later: Unity is cancelling the runtime fee

Unity took several steps to quell developers’ ire. The company restructured the pricing model, raising the threshold at which the per-download fee would kick in to $1 million across all tiers of products. Unity also added a new option that allows developers to choose how to pay: either a flat 2.5 percent revenue share or the amount calculated by the per-download pricing scheme. The company also held a Q&A with Unity Create president Marc Whitten in which he apologized for the pricing model’s rollout. Just one month after the announcement, Unity CEO John Riccitiello retired and earlier this year, Whitten left the company.

This new pricing model returns Unity to a per-seat subscription model, but there’s a catch; starting on January 1st, 2025, pricing will go up for Unity Pro and Unity Enterprise tiers.

Wherein I learn that a couple of years ago an official Ancient Aliens game was launched and it was a cheap AoE knockoff that looks really weird because it was built to be a mobile game and they just released it on PC instead for some reason
