Just finished Queen of the South - loved the ending. I was so relieved, after Ozark's ending....

Now, I need a new show.

Gave up all subs except Amazon Prime, Netflix & HBO Max... I will drop Netflix the minute they add commercials.

Really hate how there are SO many streaming services now...

If you have not been watching Julia (which is sort of about Julia Child's adventures in Public Television starting up the French Chef), then DO. I did not expect to like something like this show. I'm now really hoping they get a second season.

Pretty much everyone does, aside from the services themselves. But there is consolidation going on. Disney bought much of Fox, and Warner Brothers merged with Discovery Networks. Some people have turned to rotating subscriptions - sign up with one, watch everything you are interested in, then cancel and move to the next. Others are hoisting the Jolly Roger again.

Has anybody else noticed holes in people's resumes on IMDB lately? I first noticed it when I looked up Amber Herd, because I was curious about why she's a celebrity. The only thing I think I remember her from is West World, where I think her character got blown up fast, but she was Michael Beyed a dramatic way, so it was memorable. That's not listed at all on her IMDB. Maybe West World took it off her page because of her legal problems? West World seems stuck in production hell, though. Season 3 was horrible, and nobody knows if or when we will get another season (HBO says it's coming, but I don't know...)

I just now checked Mike Myers's IMDB, because I started watching the Pentaverate on Netflix. It's a Mike Myers comedy about a secret cabal that controls the world. Myers plays half the characters, Keegan-Michael Key is in it, and it's hilarious. Myers is one of the best comedians from the 90s that's still working. So I checked his IMDB to see what else he's done lately. The last thing I remember him from is the host of the Gong Show revival, back in 2017, because I loved that show. It wasn't a great show. Modern reality contest show formulas ruined it, but I liked it anyway. The Gong Show is totally scrubbed from Myers's history, though. He only shows up as a producer, but I'm pretty sure I remember him writing, producing, acting... he's basically the show's creator. Maybe the ratings were so bad they just decided to take it off his IMDB page?

I guess my memory could be wrong on these things, but I get the feeling that IMDB is less reliable than it used to be.

I don't remeber Amber Herd in West World at all. The only thing I remeber seeing her in was Aquaman. Its not listed on her Wikipedia either.

I never watched Mike Meyers on the Gong Show, but this article suggests he was pretending to not be himself, so that omission may have been intentional.

The only time I have really noticed omissions were very brief cameos and very occasionally, I have seen people not listed for spoiler reasons. I can't even remeber who or what, but there was at least one where a major actor and main character was missing but it was likely for spoiler reasons.

Sometimes they show up later. Like, Indon't think Matt Damon was originally listed in the Deadpool 2 cretits. I am not sure Brad Pitt was either. Both were basically cameos (Pitt is in one frame I think.). Both are listed now.

LOL, oh yeah, I forgot about Myers's 'secret' role on The Gong Show. It was obvious the whole time it was Myers, but for some reason critics all decided that they didn't know who it was. I don't understand that at all. That's one more example of critics making obvious, stupid mistakes in unison.

I think the older Myers gets, the more roles he plays. In the Pentaverate, there's Keegan-Michael Key, Rob Lowe, a black girl, Jeremy Irons, and like 3 other people, and everybody else in the show is Myers in disguise. It's at a point now where I wonder if he did that to limit the number of people on set so he could film during the lockdowns, or maybe he's doing it so he doesn't have to hire as many actors. It's hilarious, but also kind of excessive.

It makes me think of that time Garth Brooks started releasing music as Chris Gains.

I have never watched rhe show "Mom", but Insaw a comment on Reddit about it recently I can't stop thinking about.

The basic premise of the show is you have the older Mom, and the Younger Mom, and the Younger Mom's kids. Kind of a layered comedy/life lesson dynamic.

The show has 8 seasons per IMDB.

The comment was that basically, at one point, the kids just sort of, disappeared.

And sure enough, per IMDB, one one of the kids shows up after Season 4, and the one that does is like one episode or something.

Seems really weird, considering that feels like a core gimmick for the show.

On a side note, something similar happened on the show Good Girls, the main character has 4 kids, but in the later episodes, one of them just sort of vanishes and she only has 3 kids.

This week, everybody on my facebook friends list has been raving about how awesome Netflix's new TMI documentary is. TMI is right up the road from me, I grew up with people telling me stories about it. My cub scout troop took tours of the control room. My classmates don't remember the meltdown, but we were all born within months of it, so if it caused any mutations, that probably would have happened in my cohort. Older people who do remember the meltdown love the new documentary.

I don't think anybody loves it enough to keep Netflix when the price hike and ads hit, but it's probably worth checking out.

I was going to post something about it after I've watched it, but I'm glad to hear that it's getting some good appraisals. I'm not expecting a Chernobyl level of filmmaking in documentary form, but was hoping for something a bit above the typical docpics.

Since I posted about this earlier... Alexxa won American Song Contest. She's the lip syncing k-pop star from Oklahoma. Everybody was like "lip syncing is just how Koreans sing... if you don't like it you must be racist!" I just turned it off after the first 10 minutes of episode 2, because she should have been eliminated for breaking the rules, not advanced for it. If I want to watch lip syncing, I'll go to a drag show (which I do, regularly! Watching it on TV bores me, though). Looks to me like Alexxa's insane k-pop stans voted obsessively to put her over the top.

Oh well... the real Eurovision starts today, and they don't put up with any lip synching foolishness! It's happening in Turin, at 9:00 PM CEST, which is 3:00 PM EST. Peacock is streaming it in America. I think Peacock waits until like 1 AM to stream it, though, rather than streaming it live, which is weird. I'll see how it goes. I might have to tinker with VPNs to get a decent stream, like I've always done before, but I'll give Peacock a chance to get it right first.

Ukraine's entry isn't horrible this year. I think they might get past the opening round with this.

This movie is such a wonderful joy. The acting (and the choice of actors) is so right, the settings so perfect. It has personal pleasure for me, too, being much like things I have dreamed of in reveries of being carried away by love. The cinematography of the gorgeous settings brings up all the beauty of the land and seascapes. I'm so glad that Scorsese et al agree and have restored this, though given the good quality of the DVD version I have already, it'll be interesting to see what I've been missing.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

The same thing happened on Grace & Frankie. There are a few offhand references to Mallory's four children but we never see them after first few seasons. Also, she seems remarkably unharried for a single-mom with a high-pressure career AND a houseful of kids. Not that we ever see her house. She's always at work or visiting another relative.
