There's this particular scene in Pink Flamingos.

Never mind.
Oh, for that kind of gross, I found a Russian film that uses the corpses of dead insects to tell a gripping story of marital infidelity, and contains a warning about upsetting anybody with a camera, which is a great message for people today, with all the problems smart phones cause!

A conversation with a security expert who investigates war crimes has helped Motherboard uncover the truth of Chalamet’s past as a YouTuber who did custom paint jobs of Xbox 360 controllers.
Glad we got that cleared up... 💩

Wasn't there a "Palpatine's spirit returns and inhabits a clone body." plot in the post Endor Expanded Universe novels?

I mean, that is at least a explanation if there was.

I've been getting deeper into movies made in the teens. Fascinating decade in movie history, for so many reasons. It was slow at first, but then it became a lot more fun once I ditched the horrible tinkly piano elevator music these films ship with, and started playing my own music.

I know what you're gonna say: I'm missing out on the genuine experience of music from that period. To that I say... humbug! I'm not losing a single bit of the genuine experience by playing my own music with them. These films were not meant to be seen in silence, or even with one piano. They were meant to be shown in vaudeville venues, and I think audiences still behaved as if they were at a vaudeville show, even after nickelodeons became movie palaces. The theaters would have a piano player, who may or may not have sheet music to improvise with, but they also had at least a lecturer, who would read the title cards, because literacy isn't what it is today. The lecturer would also voice act, and lead the audience in song at various points during the film. Some theaters had entire shadow casts. Imagine every film you see in a theater being like Rocky Horror. Piano elevator music composed in the 90s and 2000s just isn't gonna cut it for me. I need something more exciting, and I think moviegoers in the teens would agree with me. For the most genuine experience, I make up funny lines for the characters and heckle the movie with my girlfriend while we watch. Don't take it too seriously. Talking during Dune is bad, but insisting on silence during a SILENT film is just as bad, IMHO.

Once I started experimenting, I found out that no matter what music you play, the action in the movie seems to go with it. The music gives the film a mood, and a rhythm.

So try these pairings I stumbled across:

Honestly, it just looks incredibly dull.

Like everyone in weird space armor suits that looks kind of samey, They all seem to have the same general power set. It's not even super clear what it's about. There will also be some incredibly dull "logic" why these super man beings were absent during Thanos. Though they kind of started pushing that already in Loki, with things like, "Yeah, infinity stones, whatever".

I get that they need to increase the stakes now, but it kind of cheapens everything that was built up before.

Always set your sights on attainable goals.
Looks like review bombing. IMDB shut down reviews from before a film releases to stop the review bombing. I don't know why review sites ever allowed reviews for things that haven't come out yet, anyway.

I've seen a lot of people blaming homophobes for the review bombing, because The Eternals features a gay couple. I think that maybe that's some of it, but I think it's mostly China doing it. The director is Chloe Zhao, who has been blackballed in China so hard that they blacked out the Oscars because her Nomadland got nominated for something. Xi really is that petty. It's pathetic that a world power would go and review bomb a film on IMDB and rotten tomatoes, but that's the world we live in.

I do agree that the trailers look bad. I wouldn't normally see Eternals in a theater, but given the circumstances... I don't care how bad the trailers look, I'll go see Eternals in the theater, opening night, even in a pandemic, and I'll buy the size gag buckets of popcorn and soda, just on principle, because fuck the CCP. I'll always support big studios who are willing to give up Chinese distribution, in order to stick to principles that I care about.

To be honest, I don't expect it to be the greatest thing since Shakespere, but the last two films I saw in a theater were Mortal Kombat and Dune. There's absolutely no way it can possibly be worse than either of them. At the very least, the sound will be better than Dune. I've never had problems understanding MCU dialog. Plus, it has Galactus. Who doesn't want to see a giant nomming on planets? I want to see Galactus's spice rack.

Ha ha ha ha ha...I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing on how you basically just summed up the Kirby-costume-look in a sentence.

They all seem to have the same general power set.
They DO have the same power set. Seriously, Every eternal has the same powers, they just vary in which ones they are better at using.

It's not even super clear what it's about.
Probably the Deviants Ghaur/Kro trying to awaken the Dreaming Celestial, thusly destroying the Earth. It is not like they didn't try to do that in the comic.

There will also be some incredibly dull "logic" why these super man beings were absent during Thanos.
Eternals generally kept a low profile, especially after seeing the results of the Greek Pantheon mucking around with humanity. Also, Thanos is one of them, sort of. And they are NOT aliens and "Olympia" is NOT another planet. Eternals (Homo immortalis) They've got earth hominid DNA, they were given their powers and evolutionary advancement by the Celestials. Olympia was their home in Greece, where they served as representatives of Marvel's Greek Pantheon for a while. Thena/Athena and Zeus/Zuras even resemble each other. (The Eternals adopted similar names because of that resemblance)

I get that they need to increase the stakes now, but it kind of cheapens everything that was built up before.
Ha ha ha, happens with every Crisis Crossover. Crisis Crossover - TV Tropes

It's tough to translate Jack Kirby to film.
It is, especially since the Eternals are him basically trying a reboot of the Fourth World. Instead of Apokolips vs New Genesis it is Eternals vs Deviants. Fourth World originally was supposed to be its own thing, separate from the standard DC Universe.

Ladislas Starevich's stuff is mindblowingly awesome. Even more so when you see the level of detail and animation and realize his works were mostly 1910-1939 with a handful after WWII.

Well I'm not surprised that Foundation isn't exactly adapted well on the screen. For me it's one of these things which are great in a book but almost impossible to bring on screen in general.

I mean it's one of the most iconic SciFi story arcs ever. It's also already pretty old being written from 1951 to 1953. So some details/ideas in it might sound really dated from our modern point of view.

And trying to squeeze out something out of the sheer mass of original story which looks good on screen, is still entertaining and close enough to the books - good luck with that one. You really need nothing but short of a genius of a screen writer for that job, because it's that ambitious.

I think it was used more than once.

The Star Wars MMO "The Old Republic", the Sith Emperor is thousands of years old and has been keeping himself alive over the centuries with various Voldemort-type hijinks. He gets killed at the end of the main game, but in the expansions he comes back as a ghost trying to take possession of a new body - like, twice. One of the times it's the player character's mind he's trying to take over, so he keeps popping up in the middle of important fights to tempt you, like the biblical Satan.

But anyways yeah these immortal always-coming-back-somehow hijinks are something that actually happens a FEW times in the Star Wars franchise but, kinda like with time-travel in Star Trek, when it pops up in the new movie the fans want to rag on suddenly it's treated like an intrusively silly and lazy idea.

I suppose The Umbrella Academy might have a third season but am also happy with my ending that commences thusly:
Five (addressing Umbrellas): We averted a global apocalypse, twice, without him [gestures toward Reggie] telling us what to do and came through it as a family. We're happy; he's unhappy; they're unhappy. Let's leave them to it.

Five (addressing Reggie): You were right, though; a lot can happen in a few seconds.

Klaus (addressing Five): But don't you care about what he's doing to them (gestures toward Sparrows)?

Five: Of course I do. But he's not gonna listen to us and neither are they. Let's go.

[Five puts arm around Klaus' shoulder and they turn to walk toward the foyer]

Vanya (addressing Reggie): Thank You for giving me the violin. Tell Pogo that I love him...and I'm sorry.

[Vanya exits following Five and Klaus]

Diego (addressing Reggie): And tell Mom...that she's real to me.

[Diego exits through foyer]

Allison (addressing Sparrows): When you encounter Lila, do. not. attack. her. She'll mirror your powers against you and you cannot defeat her that way.

Luther (also addressing Sparrows): And if he [gestures toward Reggie] ever offers you a trip to the Moon, the answer is nooooo.

[Allison and Luther exit arms around waists through the foyer]

[Closing shot follows falling monicle from Reggie's genuinely shocked face to the floor where it shatters]
