In the history of book printing, there have been periods when there was clearly a shortage of commas.
John 1:1 notes that in the beginning there was the word. It doesn't mention when punctuation showed up.

Matthew Broderick returned as the High School Principle in a more contemporary serialized "reboot"(-ish) of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in 2019.
Be careful though before starting to watch: this show was never renewed for season 2. So there's only one season to watch.

I like to think of it as only one season to ignore.

I am having a better feeling about this than I did about American Gods.

Mrs. Beebo and I are hooked on a Danish TV series called the Seaside Hotel. It's like Upstairs, Downstairs on the North Sea. The first episode was slow, a gentle introduction to the summer residents at the hotel and the maids who serve them, but the drama starts to roll by the second episode. The era is 1920s, just before the stock market crash and the ensuing World War, which provides a certain frisson for the viewer who knows what's coming, while the characters are oblivious to the storm clouds gathering on the horizon.

The first season is running on our local PBS Station, but we were too impatient to wait as they doled out new seasons. The entire 8-season run is available on Amazon/PBS for $6/month.

Yeah, American Gods had a crazy quality arc. The firs season was amazing, but the last season was almost unwatchable. There were lots of rumors and stories about what went wrong behind the scenes, but in the end, the fan base was just hate watching it, LOL. One theory about one of the things that went wrong was that Gaiman was focused on getting Sandman going instead of making American Gods make sense, so he fucked over American Gods to feed the Sandman project, much like what probably happened when D&D killed GoT to give Star Wars more attention.

I just checked out The Problem With Jon Stewart and it's just sad to see him like this. I mean, losing your comedic chops as you age, that's sad, but it happens. Even Jerry Lewis lost his touch as he got older. Stewart's show is just so bad on every level, though.

Episode 1: Opens in the writers room, where he's talking about how to sell this military VA story, about how we're not taking care of veterans, just like how we abandoned 9/11 first responders. I'm thinking, yeah, that's a good cause, but at the same time... he's explicitly telling us that he sees the audience as a thing to manipulate, like a horse to be broken or something. Why do I trust somebody who believes this? Whatever, it's probably a good cause. Then credits roll, and he comes on and does his pitch for the veterans who got sick because of burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the VA won't cover their sickness. Then he brings on the victims and has them tell their stories. It's very moving. It follows the exact same format as when he went to congress for 9/11 first responders. I totally agree with him! When he did this for the first responders, I spent a weekend scrubbing through CSPAN footage to detail who was and wasn't there, and to this day, at least every few months, I tweet at a senator to ask them where they were when the 9/11 first responders needed them. So I'm all team Stewart on this. At the same time, he just laid it on way too thick. The show goes on for nearly 50 minutes. Yeah, I'll support this cause, but it's just not a format I care to watch. Maybe it will get better, though...

Episode 2: This week's topic is conservatives who shout that freedom isn't free, then refuse to wear masks or get shots, and become terrorists to attack the capitol. I think everybody here knows I agree with Stewart on this. At the same time, he's bitching about stuff we've all been bitching about for two years straight, and I don't think he brings anything new to the conversation. The guy obviously can't read a room if he thinks he's saying something new here. Then he brings on a panel! After laying it on super thick for 20 minutes, he thinks what this conversation needs is another 30 minutes of panel discussion. The panelists are more diverse than you will see on CNN or Fox or MSNBC, so if you are into panel shows, this might be your jam, but to me it's still just another a lame panel show in a sea of senseless panel show bullshit. Who in their right mind wakes up one morning and says "You know what this country needs right now? One more hour long panel show, every week, where the audience is treated to highly opinionated people, being highly opinionated!"

I don't think I can keep watching this. I prefer to remember Jon for the great comedian he was, rather than the guy I see on Apple+ right now. I'll probably check out season 2, if they cut the time down to 30 minutes. This show reminds me of season 4 of The Twilight Zone, where they expanded the show to an hour long format, and it just didn't work. Sterling was a genius for 30 minutes, but he can't keep it up for a full hour. Neither can Stewart.

The sequel will probably be better.

I have been watching some House on Peacock, and they changed the opening theme song from Teardrop by Massive Attack, to just be the end theme song and it drives me nuts every single episode and it's WRONG.
