I recently got a Chromecast, so I've been surfing around streaming services more. Two things I recently saw that were a lot better than I thought they would be...
My Octopus Teacher -- This is the story of an octopus making friends with an underwater cameraman / documentarian. At points in the film, his obsession with this octopus is kinda creepy. He's kinda a creepy stalker. He does make me care about the octopus, though. It's a good story. It's on Netflix.
Splitz -- I found this while asking Google assistant for cheesy 80s comedies. It was from an app called Tubi TV. I just wanted something in the background while I did other things. Splitz is the story of a girl band in the 80s, but... early in the film they play a club, and the club looked extremely similar to shots I'd seen of CBGBs. I checked IMDB, and sure enough, they shot in CBGBs! The film came out in 1982. It's basically punk rock Animal House, but with sororities, and a WAY lower production value, and way less talent. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. The lack of budget and talent make it more punk rock. It was hilarious. This film should have some kind of cult following, but I don't think it does. I can't recommend it enough.
