Well given the rise of obesity in the US this a step which makes a lot of sense. Of course healthier Americans also increases the number of possible soldiers, so it is also a great thing for the military.

I hate this.
I hate this because its one of those "Sounds really good in paper" ideas, but its being presented to us by an administration.
An administration, who has, already shown via all the Transgender erasure, and deletion of websites and data, and with previous work around COVID and vaccines and masks etc etc, and a bunch of other shit, that their method of operation is simply, "pretend it doesn't exist."
The order talks about the increase in ADHD and Autism and such. There isn't an increase, the world just, became more profressive and the world acknowledges it all and understands it more.
But this administration, the solution will be to call it "croneyism" or "corporate influence" (both mentioned in the EO) and to force it to simply not be diagnosed.
Rates will "fall", everyone will clap.
I also got a kick out of the military bit too. I tjought your comment was just some kind of weird joke, but its all right in there. Instead of adjusting the military requirements, because why the hell not, they will jist stop diagnosing shit. Its so stupid because the image projected is basically the "classic" military of "throw bodies with guns at a problem." Like the present day military isn't basically 5 people in a room flying dromes around the world. We are so well begond the "bodies with guns" needs, and in the cases we do need that, there are plenty of available people.
The real problem of the military is, no one wants to risk their life fighting a bunch of poor people in the desert so oil barons can keep their oil safe. No one feels any of these stupid wars are juatified enough to want to go join the military, because war is stupid, and killing people for stupid reasons is stupid.
Anyway, thats a tangent.
This whole EO avoid the real issue, though, I don't think I wpuld want this administration in charge gicen their shitty world view, but you could go a long way towards fixing the healthcare problems of this country by having universal healthcare. Of course, the issue wpuld be that it would also be severely restricted on anything related to abortion and gender affirming care. And if this EO is any indicator, it would probably be severely lacking for a lot of mental healthcare as well. Basically, anything these fuckheads dislike wpuld not be covered.
FWIW, i do not, but everyone else in my household suffers from chronic health issues, so I have seen plenty of it over time first hand and how it affects people and evolves and how much of a hassle it already is to find care that knows what is going on and the stupid expense of it all.
