Kris Kristofferson, singer-songwriter and actor, dies at 88

He was known for classics like “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” and for starring in films like “A Star Is Born" with Barbra Streisand.

Kris Kristofferson, a Rhodes scholar with a deft writing style and rough charisma who became a country music superstar and an A-list Hollywood actor, has died.

Kristofferson died at his home on Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday, family spokeswoman Ebie McFarland said in an email. He was 88.

McFarland said Kristofferson died peacefully, surrounded by his family. No cause was given.

I remember listening to this kind of music when I was in the later years of grade school. It was in pretty heavy rotation on the AM station I listened to in Santa Barbara, California. Even now, when I hear one of these songs playing, it takes me back to my childhood. And, no, I've never been on a yacht!
