What a fascinating approach to the checks and balance system of governance. Thank you.
Yes, when they were drafting the U.S. constitution, they had the tribal elders in an upstairs room to advise them, and my understanding is there was constant and steady foot traffic going up and down the stairs for the entire session. This was 43 years before Andrew Johnson pulled a Trump on them.

The bombing of MOVE in Philadelphia took place 40 years ago.

Forty years ago, the city of Philadelphia used a helicopter to drop a bomb the size of a backpack on a group of residents.

The May 13, 1985 bombing was the shocking end to a contentious standoff between police and MOVE, a group that emerged in the ‘70s as a back to nature movement, but transformed into a Black liberation group that later sparked controversy and tension with law enforcement.

In the end, 11 people were dead and 61 families were displaced as dozens of rowhouses burned in a massive fire.
“It was one of the most devastating days in the modern history of the city,” said MOVE Commission chairman William Brown. “Nearly two square blocks of a comfortable residential area lay wasted by fire. Sixty-one families, some 250 men, women and children were homeless. Their achievements and aspirations consumed in the terrible fire that we all watched on our TV sets.”

Speaking of history.

I already knew how worthless and sensationalist the History Channel is, but when they advertised the 2-episode miniseries "Sitting Bull", one of the major focuses of my college post-grad work, I had to watch it - mainly because I'm an OCD geek.

I wasn't disappointed. It would take me several days to run down the detailed list of glaring inaccuracies they trotted out in 2 hours. It would be pedantic and trivial, so I'll spare you the scroll count :) Let's just say that when they cast Michael Spears as the chief they didn't look like they'd ever picked up a history book. (Add in my usual guffaws of derision when they portray historic events using bad actors wearing horrible wigs).

What a striking resemblance, right?! *Laughs* Anyway.

On the major points of his life so far, they're fairly close to the story told by the Oglala and Hunkpapa legends but with the inevitable History Channel-Pop Culture mishmash of fact and myth.

Tonight they talk about the Custer fight, the subject of one of my umdergrad theses. They don't give a crap, but I plan to watch with DVR running and pad/paper in hand.

I'm a history bitch.

Well, they both have 2 eyes, a nose, a mouth and hair. Although the one on the left has a ear, you cant' say with 100% certainly that the one on the right does have a ear in the same place..... Also, based on the forehead, they both may have a penis?

Oh, no. Have they worked in some flying saucers? Can science not explain something? Atlantis people? Are there (white) Aryan Atlantis people giving the primitive (brown) people some technology they could not possibly have figured out on their own?

Everyone knows what a logjam on a river is (I presume?). But imagine one so dense you could walk on it, and in some places couldn't even tell where exactly the actual river is underneath it. And then imagine that logjam takes up 160 miles of the river.

That was the Great Raft of the Red River in northwestern Louisiana, a truly immense and unique natural wonder. Nobody at the time had ever seen anything like it, and nothing of a similar scale exists anywhere else in the entire world in modern times. But it existed here...up until the early 1800's when we destroyed it, and all of the communities that relied on it, because basically money.

Sadly the Wikipedia entry glosses over the environmental damage and completely omits the displacement of the Caddo people, both of which are the bulk of the content of the second half of the video.
