I don't see how that can possibly malicious communication, which catches phone calls, texts, emails and social media.

My guess is that that whoever was in charge of the police presence was told the king didn't like having images projected on his castle (or, more likely, one of the palace officials didn't like it), and they should make it go away. Asking Led By Donkeys to cooperate didn't work so they had to arrest them for something, and by the time the case file reaches the CPS, who will almost certainly bat it back with a note about not taking the piss, Trump will be safely out of the country.

The four people arrested are still in custody. I would love to hear the justification for that.

Since they were arrested late in the evening, it doesn't particularly surprise me that they were held overnight, and I would imagine that the visit is keeping the Windsor police pretty busy, so it may simply be that it's taking time to find someone to interview them. It may also simply be that they pissed off the arresting officer or the custody sergeant.

Obviously I don't know what happened, but in general if a police officer tells you to stop whatever it is you're doing or you're likely to be arrested, by far the wisest course of action is to comply rather than argue about it, whatever you may think of his decision.

We got the state visit out of the way.

Then on Sunday we recognised Palestine and now on Tuesday we've been told not to pay any attention to Trump's medical advice (not that I can imagine anyone here would anyway).

UK tells patients to ignore Donald Trump’s advice on paracetamol

UK health secretary Wes Streeting has told the British public not to “pay any attention” to remarks by Donald Trump claiming that the use of paracetamol during pregnancy was linked to autism in children.

“There is no evidence to link the use of paracetamol by pregnant women to autism in their children — none,” Streeting said.

The health secretary cited a major study conducted in Sweden in 2024 that involved 2.4mn children and did not substantiate claims of a link between the drug and the condition.

He told ITV on Tuesday: “I would just say to people watching, don’t pay any attention whatsoever to what Donald Trump says about medicine. In fact, don’t take even take my word for it, as a politician — listen to British doctors, British scientists, the NHS.”

The intervention by a senior British cabinet minister is likely to be poorly received by the Trump administration, who only last week received a warm and conflict-free reception during the president’s state visit.

Donald Trump’s sharia law attack on Sadiq Khan outrages Labour MPs

Keir Starmer is facing demands from Labour MPs to reprimand Donald Trump’s administration after the US president falsely claimed London wanted to “go to sharia law” under its “terrible mayor”, Sadiq Khan.
In an address to the UN general assembly, Trump said: “I look at London, where you have a terrible mayor, terrible, terrible mayor, and it’s been changed, it’s been so changed. Now they want to go to sharia law. But you are in a different country, you can’t do that.”
News to me that sharia law mandates
This is particularly insulting because Sadiq Khan faces death threats from Islamist extremists, source says

London’s mayor was vocal in denouncing Islamist terrorism when the city was subject to two Jihadist attacks in 2017, after the subsequent attack on Manchester, and when a far-right extremist targeted worshippers leaving a London mosque.

Khan, the first Muslim mayor of the capital, has a team of about 15 police protection officers protecting him around the clock.

Some Islamist extremists see Muslims in public office in western democracies as potential targets. As an MP, Khan voted for same-sex marriage and has championed gay rights as mayor.

Been personally chased and pecked by a couple of swans I'd like to roast. They're majestically pretty but they can surely be mean. Come to think, though, I've never seen them on a menu.

Majestically pretty like 19th century riverboats.

A bird handler at a wildlife park told me the only birds there that he feared were the swans. "Those bastards will break your leg."

Starmer to unveil digital ID cards in plan set to ignite civil liberties row | Keir Starmer | The Guardian
All working adults will need digital ID cards under plans to be announced by Keir Starmer, in a move that will spark a battle with civil liberties campaigners.

The prime minister will set out the measures on Friday at a conference on how progressive politicians can tackle the problems facing the UK, including addressing voter concerns around immigration.

The proposals for a “Brit card” would require legislation and are already facing opposition from privacy groups.
