One welcome outcome of the Conservatives' crushing defeat in the recent elections is that almost all the members of Liz Truss' somewhat ironically-named "Popular Conservatism" movement were removed from Parliament. I think they have only three members left sitting as MPs now.

Truss is now very much a busted flush, I think. She's pretty much hated by her formed colleagues, who see her, quite rightly, as an unashamed author of their electoral misfortunes. She's now, I think, aiming squarely at the right-wing US lecture circuit for her future career. She's finished here, I'm certain.

I'm really not sure what they expected to happen -- if you try to create serious disruption in support of your cause, no matter how justified you think you are, the law will come down on you very heavily indeed.

If Tommy Robinson and his supporters decided to start blocking major highways in support of demands to pull the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights and to lock up all asylum seekers, I'd want the authorities to stop them, and I don't think that whether or not a protest is legal should depend on what I (or the jury) think of the cause it's supporting.

Hail Britannia: The Telegraph has evidence that big parts of the software designed and in use for their nuclear submarines was designed in Belarus and Russia.

The software should have been created by UK based personnel with security clearancy, bit its design was outsourced to developers in Siberia and Minsk.

Now there are fears that that code has hidden backdoors which could be exploted to reveal the location of Britain's submarines to Russia.

So it's pretty clear that the rioters have no understanding of the issues they claim to be rioting about. Apparently, we're not supposed to say they are thick but, let's be clear, they are. 10/

Intelligent people don't fall for obvious propaganda, burn down libraries, loot stores, assault police officers, throw bricks at nurses, or wreck their own communities.

The rioters are thick and they are gullible (possibly the fault of the education system TBF).
