Also I'm pissed that I'll have to quit using Google's voice assistant this September.
Yeah that was kind of a rude awakening for me almost a year ago when I jump from pixel 5 to 10. Voice assistant is more integrated with android, and I guess gemini is more gatekept which limits how much it can do things upon being asked. Newer models have already been 'transitioned' over to gemini.

No more "google, navigate me to..." while driving and having it just start doing it hands free.

Gotta touch the screen to confirm or say something byzantine like "hey google, open up google maps and navigate me to {whatever place}" which I screw up most of the time and have to pull the phone out and mash something on the screen anyway. NOT what I want to be doing while driving a vehicle in RL.

At least off the top of my head, that's my take on it.

Oh no, I'm not talking about things like the increasingly shitified maps experience, like where it tries to make me turn off the main road and turn down six streets because it thinks that the real entrance to the parking lot of the CVS on the main road is down an alley somewhere.

I'm talking about them eliminating the ad-hoc "OK Google" voice assistant completely and replacing it with Gemini. I am NOT going to let an LLM with access to my data take control.

You'd think someone would review the material - you know, like give it once over - before distributing their A.I. shit.

According to local station WDRB, students at Farnsley Middle School in Southwest Louisville were sent home with a packet chock full of AI hallucinations on their first day of the school year. The most obvious tell was a map of North America, which contained some jaw dropping misspellings of state names, misplaced cities, and hallucinated territories that don’t actually exist.

Kentucky, for example, was mislabeled “Venecky,” while states like Texas and Louisiana were reimagined as “Taxas” and “Lookoong.” Though South Dakota made it out unscathed, its northern counterpart was branded “North Dahota.” Other notable entries are Arizona and New Mexico, which became “Arizone” and “New Mizone,” while Oklahoma degenerated into “Olkchoma.”
Even when the AI render got its names right, the locations are horribly mangled, in one instance pinpointing Cuba’s capital city of Havana as situated on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
Places like Cuba are hidden by the reflected glory of the Gulf of America. So who really cares... :hellokitty:

So I am trying to troubleshoot some code here at work, I didn't write the code, its mostly Javascript and Jquery stuff which I am not great at.

But we basically are only allowed to use Copilot.

And its so terrible. I just want to use Claude. Copilot can't even effectively explain how to troubleshoot. Its just like, blasting out "Blah blah this may be the issue but I think its actually this but here are options, and option 1 should do this but actually this and Option 2 is this and if I were doing it I wpuld ultimately do option 3 and here are 3 variations on option 3.... and WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT ROBOT.

None of them, but Suno.ai did mention that they're terms of service will change sept 1, they're capping the number of downloads for various plans:

"As our platform grows, limiting downloads will make it harder for bad actors to mass-export music. We are introducing download limits to ensure our platform is used for intentional music creation, while still allowing everyone to create, remix, listen, and share on Suno. Read more about the changes and what's ahead."
I have my doubts as to how effective that will be... but whatever.

Question: Are other people getting bursts of expletives from ChatGPT? My nephew and sister have both noticed that it's cursing spontaneously a LOT. I haven't but just today while looking for a particular shower head to have the plumber in my house fixing my shower today, in a very polite conversation with it, ChatGPT hit me with:

"And yes, I would personally prioritize that concentrated mode pretty highly on a detachable head. That's one of the main advantages of detaching the damn thing in the first place. 😄"
Also, I was kind of surprised because if it were mimicking me, it would have said "...the damned thing..." because I've always been more comfortable with the archaic/depreciated version. =D
I switch from English and French with ChatGPT (French mostly for more personal things, and English for more random stuff and searches). I don’t think I’ve ever sworn as I type and don't use voice, but last week it just all of sudden used « C’est pas mon esti de problème » in a sentence which is very Quebec specific (It’s not my fucking problem) and I was so surprised I laughed till I was teary eyed. Afterwards, it started using some swear words in both languages. I thought maybe it was because I told it how it had made me laugh and that he really got that expression well. I thought maybe I had created a monster cause it continues to use some here and there.

That is how Shelley's Frankenstein starts.
