IMO the internet has chilled CONSIDERABLY on the wide-open furry hate over the last while, but there's still some of it around. Mostly it seems to be out-of-touch people who last heard about furries when it was in to hate on them and aren't aware things have shifted since then.

Oh I think that's almost ALL of what furry hate is. Furries are a safe proxy at which straight people can vent their fear and discomfort with non-heteronormative identities in general.

I think part of the reason the furry hate is waned is because, in the US at least, venting hatred at gays directly has been mainstreamed by the right-wing again so a safe proxy isn't needed anymore.

If I remember right, scripture compares him to "the lamb of God". A ritual sacrifice to take away sins i.e. when Abraham substituted a ram for sacrificing his son Issac. So Jesus is God's sacrifice for humanity.

I'm not in the right mind-frame to understand it, either. Something about ancient contract law and sacrificial rituals. I remember in that period oaths and verbal contracts were binding, with the consequence of losing one's reputation within the local community being a really, really BAD THING.
