Sorry, but this one shoots straight over my head. I don't understand what you mean.
It goes hand in hand with not being able to repair your own car after doing your own mechanic work for 50 years because big business wants all my money so I starve to death while homeless.

ETA: Black boxes are flight recorders on commercial airliners.

Black boxes aren't just for planes. They're now integrated into many types of vehicles. You may even have one in your car, though you don't know about it. About 90 percent of new cars have event data recorders (EDRs) that track the same kind of data as airplane black boxes. The EDR is ostensibly designed to maintain and monitor the car's safety system, but accident investigators can and do use EDR data to better understand wrecks ... and sometimes, to assign blame after an accident.

ETA2: Most (not all) modern day "mechanics" are really just glorified parts changers. They don't repair anything, just replace.

My first guess would be they have a limit of around 10000 items for any search. So if you filter by price range you get more items for the total of all the categories.
If it was always like that, I'd agree. However up until a couple of months back, it would tell you the total. That's how I was tracking the affect that no more gachas had on the marketplace (none really). I could just hit the gacha tab and wham, 900K and the used tab and pow, 108K etc. The change seemed to have happened at the same time the default amount of items per page changed from 24 to 96.

Well, that was interesting. I went to the Marketplace to see if I had anything left in my store, but couldn't log in because my account was on hold. ???

Logged into my SL user account and there was an outstanding $6 debt that I was totally unaware of. Looks like someone who was contributing tier has withdrawn. If not for this thread, lord knows when I would have finally logged in to SL... or tried to, at least....

So the theory of the 'long tail' retailing has finally bitten the dust. Ah well.

That is still very well possible, as long as the merchant can be bothered to log in at least once every 2 years.

Logging in once every 2 years, makes your stuff stay on the marketplace.
And if that is even too much asked...... IMHO the merchant doesn't deserve long tail retailing.

Uchi’s Chinchilla avatar is still remarkably good for its age.

Pity the disaster about to befall the plethora of mod options.

I mean, even if they are not logging in, if the item is selling it stays right?

This is mostly going to affect things no one sees.

How is Linden Lab going to mess this up? It looks like a really good idea to this casual shopper, but I've around long enough to be a pessimist.

Some cute stuff on my wishlist poofed . So this is why...

And of couse it is messed up. Mainstream stuff like Intan balls or Conover orbs will never poof that way while the hidden gems of days past quietly fade away.

LL asked us to remove stuff from our shopping baskets till tomorrow... being a scientist I wonder what will happen if we don't.

There are some old obscure avatars I would hope will get grandfathered. Maybe I need to go buy them again just to keep them listed.

Daniel's flight feather is one such historical object, just to instantiate a non-virtual example.
Whose flight feather?

Hell, just make the search default to newest first instead of "relevance" which is never actually relevant to the words used to search by.
If you search for a furry or feral avatar by relevance you get the base avatar in the first page. If you search newest first you have to click through to the last page past all the avatar mods to get the base avatar.

If I already own the base avatar I can always switch to newest first to see what's been added.

Uchi’s Chinchilla avatar is still remarkably good for its age.
You can still get it in Marketplace? I thought all his avatars were gone, there's a zillion Kani mods for example but no Kani.

Looks like there's the moufette and chinchilla still available. Pity about the Kani, that is the peak example of pre-sculpt furry avatars. And the Felis, the first real post-sculpt avatar he made. So many Felis mods, too.

And..... are the results of the scientific approach in yet?

It could have been worse.

I think once I had something stuck in my cart, I could not remove it or buy it. I had to contact support to get it removed.
