Welcome Jerome Despret, Linden Lab’s New Senior Vice President of Engineering

We’re excited to welcome Jerome Despret to Linden Lab as our new Senior Vice President of Engineering. Jerome brings more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry and a deep background in building and scaling large online platforms. Earlier in his career at Electronic Arts and Maxis, he served as Lead Engineer on The Sims Online and went on to hold multiple leadership roles across The Sims franchise, including helping grow the engineering team behind The Sims 4 from its early development into full production.

Jerome has also held senior engineering leadership roles at companies including Riot Games, Zynga, and Pantheon Platform, where he led large teams and helped build and operate complex live services used by millions of players. His experience spans PC and mobile games, large-scale cloud infrastructure, and the engineering practices needed to support long-running online communities. At Linden Lab, Jerome will focus on strengthening our engineering organization and continuing to evolve the technology behind Second Life, helping ensure the platform can keep growing and improving for residents, creators, and communities around the world. We’re thrilled to have him join the team and look forward to the impact his leadership will bring to the future of Second Life.
