I got banned on a sub on reddit because I used the F word in complaining about their stupid fucking anti-epomaker bot deleting posts and comments that linked to keyboards that weren't even fucking made by fucking Epomaker but Epomaker happened to be one of their resellers.

By the way, and apropos of nothing, the new Skyloong GK61 QMK/VIA is currently $35 on Amazon and is the first traditional 60% that has sparked joy in my cold and withered soul. The trick they pulled with tap-and-hold to overlay the arrow keys with the modifiers is brilliant. Amazon.com. Take that /r/MechanicalKeyboards

Yeah, I can't handle not having a tenkey.

And I spent a few years working for an inventory company where we had a tenkey you would hang at your waist to count with. I am so fast at it still, and was one of the top counters.

My main keyboard is this gorgeous retro number in a zebrawood case.

I have a separate standalone 10 pad which only comes out when I'm doing Excel.

I can definitely NOT live without 10key... I mean, my hand just jumped to it to type that "10"... I just unconsciously used the top-row numbers (thank you flow-of-thought). Either way, I'm very dependent on having that dotted "5" home key. What ever I would "gain" with a narrower keyboard would be lost without the Model-M layout "Insert" cluster, inverted "T" and a full numpad.

Even then, I don't see my keyboard. It's on its own shelf under my desk with just enough clearance for my hands and a Kensington Slimblade to the right (also out of sight). If you saw me using my computer, you'd see my arms disappear under my desk and hear muffled Cherry blue clicky-clacky sounds. So I have a cheat for dealing with the top row is that I've melted tiny 'home dots' on the 4 and 8. (my muscle memory can't go past the 'qwerty' row on its own.)

Can't say I appreciate the lack of the 'Insert' cluster (not a fan of NumLock) and the embedding of the arrow keys (nice that they kept the inverted "T"). I might like a lefty 10Key, being a lefty. Paying attention to myself right now, I notice that I am sitting centered with keyboard and mouse and extending my right arm to reach home. Could be good. =^-^=

There's a modern Kidcraft which is compatible with LEGO. Kiddicraft and Bri-Plax are pretty much antiques at this point.

It's sort of based on the "96%" style layout which generally doesn't include the page-movement cluster, except the main keyboard is a Minila layout with a 2u left shift so the Z row is shifted over a quarter keyspace to make room for the arrow cluster. My purple board is the same... I use VIA to overlay PGUP/PGDN/HOME/END on top of UP/DN/LEFT/RIGHT using the Fn key.

Here's another lefty layout you may like: Keychron Q14 MAX. It's not quite as much a bargain.

Well, you just found me a new favourite keyboard Mfgr. I can see myself getting used to the smaller cluster and relocated 'del' key. Remap the 'light' key to take the job of insert. For me the fear about singularity is a lie, just meant to squeeze money out of people, because when looking at what most tech bros are preparing for it is not the singularity, but downfall of civilization itself.

They are all going for their own little, independent secret retreats somewhere out nowhere with an army of loyal henchman to keep them safe, while they keep them docile and under their rule. So in short the typical, evil lair of Bond villains.

BTW Alexa will get a new LLM very soon named Claude AI, which then will be sold using fees to the owners.

Large language models have nothing to do with the Singularity. They are not even potentially capable of becoming self-improving general intelligences, because they're just parody generators. Deep down they realize this, that even if the Singularity was about humanity transcending biology or whatever it is they're hoping for, ChatGPT won't transform Earth into an Iain Banks utopia, but it hurts them in their heart of hearts to be told this.

My dog caught a squirrel the other day, we walked right up to it and didn't even see it in the grass. It ran when we were right on top of, across the road with my dog in hot pursuit. It ran up a tree about 10 feet, so I said "sorry pup, you lost it", then the damn thing fell to the ground and my dog got it.
At that point my neighbor who was on her front porch started screaming about how horrible I was for letting my dog kill a squirrel. That squirrel had to be half dead when we saw it, but she screached and screached. We went home with my dog proudly carrying the dead squirrel in her mouth. After we got home my other dog had to check it out, I'm guessing it had been hit by a car. I scooped it into a grocery sack and chucked it into the woods across from my house.
Dogs are hunters, what can I say.
