That's your brain protecting you from wasting too much time on trying to comprehend the behavior of a raving lunatic.
Oh maybe. The youtube creator is a lawyer who spends 16 minutes explaining many of the details though. If you watch the video everything isn't as legally clearcut as you make it out to be in the sentence above. In some ways I was fascinated by the SCO vs IBM case which was heavily covered by groklaw.net. The site's author was a paralegal. Oh boy I sure got lost in all the arguments within arguments on that one.

Elon Musk, that stable genius of 3D chess, made his next stunning move: Twitter becomes X! (Still unsure if this is another fun attempt of him, or him being serious. I mean changing a brand name which defines a whole branch of an industry just because you can like Kleenex is beyond stupid).

Of course Twitter will run on x.com:

And what's the new word for tweet? X, of course, you stupid! So in future you will not be tweeting any longer, but x-ing! Axing others opinions maybe ? Yup, makes totally sense to me!

And why does this X look so strangely familiar to? Oh, that's why!

Out of interest, what "banking needs" does Musk intend that X should fill that aren't already filled by regular banks?
Maybe he secretly regrets getting kicked out of Paypal years ago.

Also, speculation on what is going to happen here. X is just created, its not rebranded Twitter, that's marketing.

Behind the scenes, this new company X, sill basically buy all of Twitter's assets, leaving a shell. That shell will go bankrupt or whatever. This is how he will get out of the debt and lawsuits. Because X is a "seperate company". Its basically the shell game corporations play with a company that everyone sees and knows about.

Wouldn't that mean that Musk and his partners in the buy-out would have to write off their massive personal investments in the company, while leaving him on the hook for loans and guarantees he'd secured against his personal fortune?

Perhaps, but X might be able to buy the debt on a pennies for a dollar basis when Twitter goes through liquidation. The fact that he's gone through with Twitter for so long means this wasn't his original plan and this must be an escape plan to evade much of the dept.

I mean, Inam literally speculating out my ass.

It feels like the idea may be to turn Twitter into a worthless shell. Then debtors or whatever can go after it all they want, but there will be nothing to go after. Everything will belong to X and Elon will have divested himself through some bull shit loophole.

Or he declares bankruptcy and the shell goes to the banks.

US federal law is designed to defend the country and preserve the wealth of acceptable white males. Everything is centered around those two elements. Other countries' law may be more divergent and supportive of the general population.

Submitted for your consideration, some terminology suggestions. Instead of Twitter, call it Ickier. Instead of tweets, they're icks. Of course, to carry through with the rebranding, those can be written Xier and Xs.

Welcome to the Musk-Light Zone.

This name change really is one of the dumbest things Musk has done with Twitter so far.

Was he genetically engineered to have stupid ideas? Is his full name Elon Wheatley Musk?

That is probably why he immigrated to Canada first in 1989 (his mother was Canadian), knowing it would make it easier to become a future U.S. Citizen, which he did in 2002, after having moved to the U.S to attend school. in 1992.

No doubt, the many, many methods the ultra-wealthy have to evade paying taxes alongside those sweet, sweet tax dollars the rest of us pay for his enterprises were a good incentive.

The problem with any bankruptcy scenario is that Musk secured a significant portion of the Twitter financing with Tesla stock. The banks insisted on having solid assets. He can't get away from Twitter's debt without Tesla taking a hit.

They have a significant difference from a graphic design perspective.

X.org is made up of two arrows pointing inwards so that the thicker lines appear to be a continuation of each other and the thinner lines are parallel but not continuous.

The Artist Formerly Known as Twitter has a parallelogram at an angle with another line crossed behind it.

Maybe this was the secret Saudi plan after all. Get Musk to kill the platform of uprisings and the poeple, while also tanking a competitor (electric cars)

The Saudis would just as soon have the dissidents on Twitter and a compliant management letting them track them.

Out of interest, what "banking needs" does Musk intend that X should fill that aren't already filled by regular banks? Maybe the UK is atypical here, but as far as I'm concerned, my online banking needs are met perfectly adequately by my regular bank. I can manage my accounts, pay bills, send money to people,
I used to need to transfer money to a friend. It isn't always so obvious the best way here in the US. Google pay used to be good but then they screwed it up. I used Facebook pay for a while. Zelle can be good. My bank just recently offered it. Those are or were the free options.
