As far as I can tell, he's not actually alleged to have broken any laws while in the UK (the age of consent is 16 here), and unless it's alleged any of the girls with whom he had sex while in the US was under the UK age of consent as well as that in the US state where the act was said to have taken place, it's likely that any extradition request would fail the dual criminality test (the behaviour alleged must amount to an offence under British law as well as that of the requesting country). So even if he weren't the king's younger brother it's unlikely he'll ever face trial in the US.

As to public backlash, he can't sink much lower in public estimation than he has already done, ever since that catastrophic interview he did.
