Trump calls Epstein letter a ‘dead issue’ after ‘birthday book’ is released
A day after the House Oversight Committee released records from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, the White House accused Democrats of “trying to concoct a hoax” by attempting to tie President Donald Trump to the disgraced financier. The materials released yesterday included a note bearing Trump’s name that was part of a “birthday book” gifted to the late convicted sex offender. Trump today said he wouldn’t comment on the letter, calling it a “dead issue.”
I think I see Trump's problem.

Mr. President! Hello, it's Free here.

It's actually Jeffrey Epstein that's dead, not the issue. All of the files pertaining to his illegal activities, and most of his victims, are still alive and out there. You may have caught something about all of it in the news? In psychological circles your "mistake" is known as conflation, and it's quite common for people suffering from a spate of recent panic attacks, or find themselves under undue stress. I suggest you might want to take a break, perhaps get in a few rounds of golf. I'm sure that will help. Ta!

Starting to get a faint flicker of a Pepe Silvia conspiracy flameout.

It also includes apparent contributions from Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Lord Peter Mandelson, now British ambassador to the US.
I'm curious why the article didn't mention Clinton's message in more detail. Personally, I'd like to know what he said and whether or not is was as salaciously crude as the other comments.

According to this,
Also present in the book is a note attributed to Clinton that reads: “It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word], and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends.”

Fallout in the UK
BBC News - More embarrassing Epstein exchanges to come, says Mandelson
The UK's ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, has said he believes further "embarrassing" correspondence between himself and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein will be published.
This is particularly unfortunate for Keir Starmer since his deputy PM and deputy leader of the Labour Party (two separate jobs, the former an appointment by the PM and the latter an elected party office) had to resign last week because of irregularities over her payments of stamp duty concerning a house purchase.

Mandelson was a contentious appointment, high risk and high reward, and very much a political decision by Starmer, who very much needed someone to charm Trump despite the fact most of the government despise him and made their views clear while in opposition.

I’ve written about why I think the Epstein story has become a political dead end, a kind of spectacular defensive mechanism for American society. (I mean, Trump just whacked some random guys on a boat and currently abetting a genocide. Is it that surprising that he’d be capable of hanging out with a high-end pimp and potentially committing some sex crimes? What do people think bored, powerful men running things in a massively unequal society do in their free time? Give money to homeless shelters? Exploiting people, using their bodies and tossing them aside is the norm here. That’s how business is done.) But questioning the importance of the Epstein story upsets a lot of people. Why? Probably because, as Debord writes over and over, the spectacle to us is the only thing that’s real now, and if you question the validity of the spectacle, you attack the very fabric of people’s reality.

Stressing that it was unrealistic to think he would recollect one such letter out of the vast number he has written in his lifetime, President Donald Trump told reporters Tuesday that he shouldn’t be expected to remember every single birthday card he has sent to child molesters. “Every month I’m probably sending off a dozen or so of these cards thanking pedophiles for a good time at their birthday parties or for the flight on their private jet—it’s ridiculous to think I’m going to recall each tiny thing I write,” said Trump, insisting that given the hundreds of such dispatches he has penned over the years, the child molesters’ names and the details of their orgies often blur together in his mind.

I can't help but think it odd that, so far, noone, other than his victims, who has suffered serious consequences from their involvement with Epstein -- Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew, Peter Mandelson, Jen-Luc Brunel, Jes Staley -- is American.

I got a feeling Bill Clinton might suffer consequences before the evil Cheeto... Obviously it should be all of them.

What kind of consequences? He's no longer in office, and it's doubtful there's any evidence that could lead to jail terms. The worst that could happen is loss of reputation, which is a bit threadbare already.

I'll say the same thing I'll say when anyone's name pops up on the Epstein records unexpectedly: "Anyway."

Based on my own limited opinion, it's very hard to be involved in a pedophile ring and not know you're in a pedophile ring. The number of underage girls present is Clue #1.
