I don’t know. But if someone is too scared to bring refrigerated food into the fridge, I would think all they can do, is simply avoid buying it, since food poisoning can certainly kill you faster than corona.
Shelf stable food could be left to sit for a while indoors at room temperature. I’ve usually been waiting a few days before unpacking new groceries. But I don’t see any way to avoid keeping refrigerated food out of the fridge. I put mine in a bag and put that on a free shelf in the fridge and then wait before I eat it.
Grocery carts are pretty filthy anyway, it’s not as if something like raw meat is hygienic either. He’s right to do something like hand washing or sanitizer after - that’s always been true.
