Those things are slowly moving into western culture now. A lot of ppl have outside shoes/inside shoes and use air/elbow handshakes.

I don’t know. But if someone is too scared to bring refrigerated food into the fridge, I would think all they can do, is simply avoid buying it, since food poisoning can certainly kill you faster than corona.

Shelf stable food could be left to sit for a while indoors at room temperature. I’ve usually been waiting a few days before unpacking new groceries. But I don’t see any way to avoid keeping refrigerated food out of the fridge. I put mine in a bag and put that on a free shelf in the fridge and then wait before I eat it.

Grocery carts are pretty filthy anyway, it’s not as if something like raw meat is hygienic either. He’s right to do something like hand washing or sanitizer after - that’s always been true.

It needs a human host to survive. It's unclear if the temperature/humidity of the fridge extends or cuts its life outside a host.

depends on the cryogenic stability of the surface and hull molecules - something a small indy lab* with too much spare time might find a worthy time to examine...

The virus is a globular particle - chances are there is a liquid inside... my educated guess is fast freezing and tawing should pop them open (but as said just an educated guess - I have absolutely no data on this, the last virology lecture I had was over 5 years ago)

*relatively small that is, like a minor university's lab

that is not surprising - basically all molecules have one - there is no "save time" there is just a time after which it is super unlikely to still find a virus particle intact

I can't see how that can be quite true as in the sense of radioactivity. Viruses cannot survive without embedding themselves in bacteria. They either find a host or they are dead. The words survive and dead are used loosely depending on one's definition of life.

.. and technically they stay dead until they find a suitable host again - but after some time they loose their infectous capablilities and just stay dead. How fast depends a lot on the virus... some decay rather fast - others like TMV remain contagious even after the protein hull was destroyed.

However nucleic acids decay rather fast when exposed to UV radiation, if you want to dramatically reduce the half-life of germs on your grocery... put them in a solarium for 10 minutes before you put them into the freezer. (please thoroughly sanitize the solarium before following this advice though)

I'm suspecting I already had it early February -- I thought it was just a horrible, persistent flu.

I'm in a high-risk category due to respiratory issues, but I fought it off with lots of rest, liquids, several bottles of knock-off Robitussin DM, and my inhaler.

Now just hope this gives you an edge in case of reinfection, but as long as you'r not sure you could always nott have had it yet or worse: have it right now... that's the whole dilemma here: nothing is certain anymore, we cannot let our guards down for anything.

I'm still obsessively washing my hands. Since there was (and still is) no way to get tested, I can't be sure if it was Corona or Flu. All I know is that It was worse that "normal" flu.
