The fact that she is in the middle of a political movement instead of home, the fact that she is wrestling with the spectre of global catastrophe during her lifetime, THAT has indeed stolen her childhood. To call that "overdramatization" just proves that you are in deep denial of just how bad things are going to get for the people who are children right now.But she overdid at a lot in her UN speech when she claimed that her childhood was stolen. This is overdramatization, something a rhetoric element which might be valuable, but here it is just way over the top and plainly wrong, and damages her credibility a lot.
Not one single "improvement" you've listed has anything at all to do with climate change, except for adding to it. Increased populations, longer life expectancies have all increased greenhouse gas emissions, which are still going up at an alarming rate.Fact is, that in the last few decades mankind on a global scale made drastic - in our countries often unnoticed progress and improvements - in important areas, namely e.g.:
* since 1970 the percentage of underfed people went down from 28% to 11%,
* during the 20th century over 100 millions died because of war, in the last two decades less than 2 million,
* life expectancy went from 30 years in 1800 up to 72 years today,
* the infant mortality rate in the same time frame went down from 44% to 4%.
Her "panic" is rage at complacency and inaction. There is fuckall being done in a "constructive and calm manner" to prevent our species from self-destructing. And it's reactions such as yours -- more affronted by her tone and than by her urgent message -- that feed my own belief that climate change is going to knock us back into the stone age, assuming we even survive.Panic, like she is displaying it, is never a good advisor. It needs to be discussed in a more constructive and calm manner.
