Can you OD on melatonin? I've got about a 2 month supply on hand. A bottle of 120 5mg that I opened about a month ago.

Be my luck I'd still wake up. Just groggier than referee Ted Uncle after colliding with Brian Erlocker .

Old joke about sleeping pills:

A man tells his doctor he can't sleep at night, so the doctor prescribes the man sleeping pills.

Man: Doc, can I overdose on these.

Doctor: An overdose won't kill you, but you will sleep until you need another prescription.

Either that joke is too ancient or I am.

That is one thing that is scary about Biden and the current crop of democrats. They are not taking this seriously and it could well destroy the country.
As I understand it, though, a great deal of the problem is that much of the Republican assault on democracy is taking place in individual state legislatures, and within the Republican Party itself, as individual Republican officials who opposed Trump's attempted coup are now being primaried and removed.

Much of the work to resist this threat, it seems to me, has to be done locally, rather than nationally. The Democratic victories in the presidential and senate elections in various places like Georgia and Arizona were the result of the efforts of Democratic activists and organisers on the ground, and of the principled stand various Republican state officials took.

What, other than supporting local attempts to resist such measures locally, and preparing nationally for their opponents' attempts to disrupt the election and dispute the outcome, should "Biden and the current crop of democrats" be doing that they could be doing but aren't?

The arithmetic in the Senate and in various state legislatures is what it is, and the provisions made in US constitutional law for the conduct of elections are what they are, and the Democrats have to work within those constraints, so what, practically, are they neglecting to do at the national level that you think they should be doing?

There are probably some obvious examples, but not being American, I just don't know what they are.

Get on TV and other media. Make it clear over and over this was not just some dumbass protesters. This was an attempted coup to overthrow the country. Explain why from every angle. Educate people how coups happen. Biden and all the elected democrats should be getting on their horns about this threat.

Democrats keep forgetting that if you want to sell an issue, you have to advertise. They think just asserting the truth with proper evidence will do the trick.

Yes, but other than going on TV to talk about how bad it is, why should they be doing?

The problem, as I understand it, is that the Republicans are organising at the state level to mount a far more better organised challenge to any election results they don't like than they were able to in 2020.

Presumably, then, most of the work to resist that has to be done at state level, too?

Yes, but what exactly do they need to sell to whom?

Probably lots of people, when they see the news and listen to the talking heads, think that either the governor or the legislature in particular places like Texas or Arizona and other parts of the country are dreadful, and how fortunate they are in not having to live in those places (in the same way many people in other wealthy nations, including me, feel about the whole of the US) but what can a Democratic activist in the US, but outside the particular states concerned, do to frustrate these attempts to subvert the forthcoming elections that I can't (other than lawfully contribute money to particular campaigns, which in many cases US law precludes their accepting from foreigners, or I would send something)?

I think right now we need to sell democracy to Republican voters; but since those voters are more fear-based we have to sell the downsides of the kind of tyranny that is being set up. Starting, I think, with corruption. On the pro side, we need to sell checks and balances of power. Classic civics, in other words, but hilighting people's personal stories and personal consequences. Democracy has to be the new Campbell's soup, the new Marlborough man, the new soft drink, the new iPod. Make it sexy and personal. And hammer away on the downside with personal examples of how people's lives have been ruined with the R's corruption & double dealing, bringing in the "you're next" fear factor.

The problem is that the Republicans have been telling their voters it's the Democrats who are corrupt, and thieves to boot.
Proof of corruption has to be specific, and there are groups who are going to be running those ads. They are already: Meidas Touch, Really American, and Lincoln Project.
The Democrats need to take the kid gloves off as well, however.

Why is Trump still not dragged from court room to court room?
There has enough happened during his presidency to fill several court rooms for several months IMHO.
He should be in jail somewhere by now IMHO.

Why does a rich white guy get six months, commuted, for a suitcase full of cocaine while a black guy get 20 years for a bag of weed?
