Its interesting but it depends on a couple of preconditions

Firstly, Johnson has to come back with a deal agreed by the EU. The only deal likely to be approved between now and 19th October would appear to be the one deal that has already been agreed: May's deal.

It then requires that Parliament approves that deal. Given the ERG have stated they will vote against ANY deal and no one else is really daft enough to vote for May's deal on what would effectively be it's 4th outing that seems pretty unlikely.

So the difference between approving the deal and actually going through all the legal hoops to make it happen is only relevant if Johnson can, on his first try, pull off what May failed to do three times. I just can't see him doing that.
Sure, but since the loophole is there (and especially now he's publicised it), it underlines the fact that Parliament must, to be sure of averting a no-deal Brexit, refuse to agree to anything -- a GE or a Withdrawal Agreement -- until an extension has already been requested.

I agree it may look unlikely that Parliament would agree any sort of deal anyway, but it looked unlikely that the PM would lie to the Queen in order to shut down Parliament until he did. It also looked very unlikely that the Supreme Court decided unanimously against him, too, until they did.

So, come mid-October, if nothing's moved, and then suddenly he tries to get the WA through (perhaps with the ERG abstaining rather than voting against), then panicking (former)Conservative rebels and Labour MPs from strongly Leave constituencies need to be aware of what may be up his sleeve.

It turns out that ten millions won't be nearly enough to finance the project, it's going to cost at least a hundred millions, possibly far more. What should the authorities do?
Obviously, fire the civil engineers who did such a poor site survey to produce such a low estimate.

He seems out of control.

He is, after all, a profoundly flawed man under immense pressure in a situation entirely of his own making. He's flailing.

Yet another day of hear hear and order order has pasted, without much to show for.
GB shows once again that it is completely ready to run it's show alone after October 31.

Interesting: this tweet contains some polling published in the Daily Mail and showing some significant splits in opinion even when only Tory voters are concerned. Most interesting of all, a small majority of Tories think Johnson should resign.

It might be a strategy of him yesterday; acting like a major asshole on purpose to provoke a vote of no confidence from the opposition.
The Guardian's Polly Toynbee would agree with you (I'm never sure if that's a good thing or not), though she doesn't think it's working.

Johnson’s strategy, devised with his unwise adviser Dominic Cummings, is to act so savagely that he provokes Labour into calling a vote of no confidence, as time and again he goaded Corbyn for cowardice, too frit to face the voters. Neither Labour nor the other opposition parties will be so foolish: they will call an election only when the no-deal danger has been delayed with an extension to the 31 October leaving date.

To date, the PM’s every tactic has been a disaster: losing every vote, his proroguing of parliament failed, blundering into the supreme court’s damning verdict. The net effect last night was yet again to bolster Jeremy Corbyn’s standing, his calm dignity of language casting Johnson as the wild-man extremist. The prime minister bawling insults at him as “a communist” fails when in front of everyone’s eyes is a grownup refusing to be riled by this spoilt adolescent

She also said that Johnson was under pressure from people like Crispin Odey, who are tory supporters who stand to make considerable sums off money of a disastrous brexit.

Also, the Tories lost the vote to have a recess for the Tory conference.

That's rude after Boris so generously and unseflishly gave Labour and LibDem a recess during their party conferences!

Btw, am I the only one who gets this strange feeling things aren't quite going Boris Johnson's way at the moment?

To be fair, she was replying to a question about why she thought it was the Boris Johnson we see at the dispatch box isn't the same man she knows as her brother.

She replied she didn't know, and suggested it might -- as the interviewer had suggested -- be the influence of Dominic Cummings, or it might be caused by something "inside Boris himself" or it could be "from, who knows, people who have invested billions in shorting the pound or shorting the country in the expectation of a no deal Brexit. We don't know."

(WATO recording on the BBC website . The interview starts at about 17:20 and the specific question to which she replies is at 19:55).

So while she raises it as a possibility, she doesn't actually say it is the case, and certainly doesn't name anyone.

Seems to me that, since the various explanations are not mutually exclusive, they're probably all contributing to the way he's behaving.

A company that rents digital message boards to schools said it has removed a series of slides featuring Boris Johnson after complaints from parents.

The slides, showing a brief biography of Johnson – including one stating “He wants to unite the UK” – were raised in the House of Commons by Stella Creasy, the Labour MP for Walthamstow, in north-east London, after parents in her constituency complained on social media about seeing the images at a local primary school.

Phil Austin, the chief executive of Anomaly, the company that rents the 2 metre high displays to schools in England and Wales, said the slides were uploaded at the start of the month.

“We’re operating in thousands of schools and we’ve never had a complaint about content until today,” said Austin, who added the slides had now been deleted.

The displays allow schools to broadcast their own announcements and videos for pupils and parents, while the company provides general interest content, such as informational videos on yoga, mental health and chickenpox.

So poundland trump's latest wheeze is to declare an emergency and use emergency powers to suspend legislation, specifically the Benn act.
But guess what - this too wouldn't be legal.
