And here I disagree with this tweet of Donald Tusk. This phenomenon in Europe will only go away if politics in the effected countries is going to change radically, otherwise it will go on, because the root causes are in the interior of those states, not in other countries.

Aside that the USA have never been glue to the EU, but a meddler and divider.

"Trump’s defeat can be the beginning of the end of the triumph of far-right populisms also in Europe" does not mean the same as, or anything like, "Trump's defeat will make far-right populisms in Europe go away," though.

It might not make them go away, but it's certainly a blow to them, just as it's a blow to their sponsors in both the US and Russia.

Doesn't matter, it will hardly change anything at all. To drain the swamp of far right populism you need to resolve your interior problems and satisfy their voters, the person in the oval office has not much influence on this at all.

Quite so, but if anyone said that was not the case, I missed it -- it's certainly not how I understood Tusk's words.

Oh my... our politicians still are so dumb and naive to think that they just because Biden happens the trends which Trump amplified in foreign politics a lot will go away? No chance!

I am convinced that Biden will be nicer to talk to, not rip treaties apart when he boards Air Force One, and for sure not cuddle with Kim Jong Un or look at Putin like a love sick puppy as Trump did in Helsinki,. But that's about it, the overall trend is for Europe's NATO members "do more for your own safety", and this will not change a lot under Biden, because the main priorities of the USA are the Arabian Gulf and China.

This means that the relationships between the EU and USA, while still on friendly terms, will continue to become less close and more competetive.

I always thought that ROTJ scene was unecessarily over the top and have now lived to see it happen across this planet in my lifetime.
