I was of the impression that bees outperform current AI.
(Still remember how confusing talk of AI could be at a university in the middle of one of the largest dairying regions)

Oh, I hadn't heard that serious development of AI-based bee emulation in this timeline was an actual thing that was, you know, real. Who's working on that problem?

Why robobee when we already have bee?

Let's take all the money from robobee R&D and give it to conservation of the already bees.
43 Frightening Bee Statistics & Facts for 2021
Did you know that if the bees disappeared, it would leave us with minimal food sources at skyrocketing prices? Bee statistics reveal that these creatures may be small, but they’re some of the most essential little workers in the world.

So you agree we should conserve the bees.
No, I wouldn't. Nobody reasonable would. We would expect such an action as "bee conservation" to be merely treating the superficial symptoms of a much larger ecological problem and that all efforts so directed would certainly be liklier than not destined to be utterly futile in the long run because it's an approach that's been pointed directly away from true causes and the actual merits of this crisis.

Righto lets dump truckloads into sci-fi solutions that will be underwhelming and take about 10-20 years before it's "ok, but not great and only if you can afford it" if even that.

Or save the bees we already have that already do this stuff.
I realize this one's flying at high altitude, but nobody reasonable would credibly believe that mankind can replace insects with robots in nature, even if they are directed by AI. Such notions are completely hubristic.

To be clear about this, there are economic barriers to automation that lock entire populations out, these days, due to the astronomical levels of inequity the world now "enjoys."

I think they need states rights!
If that were true, then so do you and I because all people contain multitudes.

More realistically, all states protect Universal rights and there's a full and diverse mixing in the population, as before. This is the high standard of civilization here on Earth. Anything less is ridiculous and non-credible. This is the twenty-first century, and so everyone had best get with the times already.

That's correct, there are universal rights to consider with all living things, even artificial life.
So universal rights to Second Life. Because it has the word 'life' in it.

No. Such rights come to artificial life, biological life, and the more esoteric forms, as fitting, here on Earth. You have to define your scope correctly or you can't implement universal standards.
