Is he a member of any political party that represents populism? With what other populist organizations is his party affiliated?I'd say that Senator Saunders is a populist who favours some left-wing causes, which is a movement with its own history on the American left.
I'm laughing because I know you know Sanders is an independent (definitely lowercase i) with no connection to a political party because no party exists to any great degree that fits his specific viewpoints. Or he likes being a loner. He aligns with the Democrats, usually when it suits him, because who else is he going to align with?
Like I said, Sanders calls himself a democratic socialist. I don't really know if he fits the mold for that particular political philosophy because I don't care. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet over it, and that's fine, but I don't think arguing over whether he's a democratic socialist or populist or whatever the opposite of these donks is is worth it. It rides a bit close to activities like evaluating real Scotsmen.
