In other news, Other Half's commute was simply awful this morning. First, there was that walk to the bathroom. And then there was that walk back to the computer desk. The cat got in the way both trips.
Someone wrote on twitter this morning:
"Day three of our lockdown. And it occurs to me that even if you only live with one person, they are invariably standing in front of the cupboard door you want to open. "

Another commentator suggests a low birth rate might be the consequence, immediately pounced on by people suggesting a much higher birth rate might be a consequence. And a whole lot of divorces.

It certainly sorts the wheat from the chaff when it comes to being able to amuse yourself. Those who can't are driving the other lot wild.

My wife and I -- who get along pretty well, especially in times of adversity -- have always been dismayed by how many people around us seem to be living with/married to someone they don't like. We saw this in radically different social circles of ours (back when we had social circles), from fandom to the dog world to collectors: married couples who would not just bicker, but who would outright denigrate or insult their spouse right in front of us. And now those people are going to be locked up together, 24/7... yikes.

It infuriates me that in order to get updated I have to listen to this idiot drone on repetitively, inanely, thinking he is being charming and witty. I used to tell my students that when they read aloud in that same flat tone like he does, it’s called word calling, not reading.

Why can’t he get this virus and spare us this torture.

Netflix to cut streaming quality in Europe for 30 days

Netflix will reduce the video quality on its service in Europe for the next 30 days, to reduce the strain on internet service providers.

Demand for streaming has increased because large parts of Europe are self-isolating at home due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The video-streaming provider said lowering the picture quality would reduce Netflix data consumption by 25%.

If you were dumb enough to schedule electronic payments to the IRS or state tax board when you filed your returns, you can cancel those payments.

The woman I spoke with at the IRS sounded like she'd been awake for a few days, and couldn't take much more.

That probably explains the run on guns and ammunition.

You know my step-father was horrible to my mother for the better part of 38 years. He would run her down in front of people just for the hell of it. But, weirdly since my mom's been sick - it's like he suddenly pulled his head out of his ass and realized he'd be completely lost without her.

Hubman and I usually have Saturday morning breakfast at our local Friendlys. One of the managers there once told us that he really likes it when we come in and not only because we're nice to the staff and tip well, but because we're nice to each other and seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company. He told us that a lot of married couples come in and how they seem to not even like each other, and that made me sad. Why would someone marry a person they don't like?

Here's New York City, empty streets.

Skip to 6:00 to see him ride his bike in circles in Times Square.

Actually, it smells like pancakes. I hope corona doesn't smell like pancakes.
