Other Half did an analysis over the summer and put together a slide presentation about the coming stock market slide. It was presented to my 86 year old mom, and knowing her, she's managed to fix things so her income isn't too battered. Either way, she has my brother to help her (he lives on her property), and she's got a house for the rest of her life. So she's not hurting too bad.

Naples may have invented pizza but they sure as hell stopped working on it right away.
I'm convinced that was the biggest driver behind Italian immigration to the US. Some people came to the US seeking religious freedom; Italians came to the US seeking the freedom to continue developing pizza.

He's done.
Stocks closed just shy of -3000 points down, so there's that.
But he's bungled this bigly and short of calling martial law and suspending voting and stuff, he's out of the white house in november.
Is Vermin Supreme running this year? *evil idea*

I just hope my mom isn't hit too bad by this
Unfortunately a lot of people were. He seems to think it is of paramount importance.

I have not even bothered to calculate how much I lost in just apple the past week. It does not even rate on my list of concerns over this, people getting it is at the top, critical supplies like meds are next, job losses (largely because that is insurance in the us) are third then I have to go a LONG way to get to worrying about the market.

With my mom... she's not overall worried about it, because when she loses money, she doesn't owe taxes - but the trust for my inheritance is all invested and she -did- set it up so she can access it in a pinch - and I'm worried it might lose too much for her to have that parachute.

That cynches it. He didn't take the test. It's literally just a nasal swab. It's neither pleasant, nor unpleasant.
But what if your nasal cavities are rotten from too much cocaine?

lol Trump wasn't actually tested, they straight up lied omg
Of course he was not, at most someone pointed a thermometer at him. From what I have seen it is just like any other test, collect a sample [have seen both swabs and blood, not sure which is what the us uses] then the sample gets analyzed.

Using the same argumentation Trump could also dismantle fire departments. What a stable genius!

The longer this pandemic lasts, the more I am convinced that he's now the naked emperor and this might cost him his second term, because his inability to handle the crisis is nothing he could blame the Democrats for.

He is though. He is saying the new team is better than the old one.

I want to say that is wishful thinking, but....it's true, this IS much different from anything that's happened so far. People all across the country in many industries, including legions of Trump supporters, are either being laid off or work-stopped right now without pay, and they will soon be facing personal financial crises if they aren't already. Suddenly white middle class Trumpists who have been cheerleading Trump's destruction of the country's social safety are going to be desperately needing those same services and they're not going to be available unless the government takes some drastic steps.

Here's the thing though; Trump is absolutely unprincipled. He has already this weekend completely shifted into "I've been saying this was a dire emergency all along" mode and Faux News and his other surrogates are right in-step, all "srs bsns" and pretending that a week and a half ago they weren't all screaming "Democrat hoax". I think Trump would not even hesitate to hypocritically seize on "socialist" solutions like UBI, at least temporarily, if he thinks doing that will appease his base. It's not impossible that Trump will find a way to appeal to his supporters and allow them to ignore the last month's missteps - I guarantee the bulk of them already want to and will accept even the slightest excuse to do so.

For me there are two aspects to it, namely

1) the economic impact
2) how the spread of the virus was handled.

Even if he might find ways to blame the economic impact on somebody else he cannot really blame his wrong ways in handling this pandemic on somebody else. And both aspects are going to influence his supporters, and when they start to realize that much less people would have died if he would have handled this stuff in a more proper way, who knows what is going to happen.
