While I see it's a very contentious issue, to what extent is the candidate's position on US support for Israel likely to influence their vote in November?
I'm trying to imagine someone who would otherwise vote Democrat risk, because they disagreed with the Democratic candidate's view on this one issue, losing this senate seat to the Republicans.
This is a good question, and I don't think I can give a very concise, easy answer that isn't potentially very controversial! It is complicated.
The really short answer is that many people on the far left see the democrat party as essentially the same as the GOP so voting is totally pointless. This just solidifies that for them. I know it might be hard to understand that view point as a more rational person but think of it this way... If you want a full communist revolution, why would you accept a few baby steps from the dems as an improvement?
I will obviously vote democrat because the GOP is less favorable to my views on literally every issue. Just saying there is a small, but not totally trivial number of voters who totally scoff at any idea of "nuance."
