For whatever reason, US law enforcement seems to like them, even though the courts don't.

Many departments use them in their hiring process. That would seem to mean they're selecting for squeaky clean candidates and candidates sociopathic/psychopathic enough to pass a polygraph.

Oh, no doubt -- but I don't think they're selecting for sociopaths on purpose. It's just how their touching faith in the accuracy of the polygraph makes things turn out. (That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.)
