Swiss magazine Watson is asking the question if Trump's madness can be stopped. And they are not really beating around the bush, the clarity of the article is quite unmatched:

"More and more psychiatrists and other experts are stating the obvious: Donald Trump is demented, and not only that, he suffers from a particularly dangerous form of age-related confusion, frontal lobe dementia. But we don't even need these experts. Anyone with eyes can see that the US president is deteriorating both physically and mentally. He can no longer walk straight, he has to cover his hands with makeup, he repeatedly falls asleep in public, and his rambling speeches are becoming increasingly incoherent.

The fact that we're talking about the most powerful man in the world makes the situation frightening, especially since his inner circle can't stop him: His chief of staff, Susie Wiles, has no influence on his decisions and refuses to do so. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is a dim-witted sycophant, as is Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President J.D. Vance are spineless opportunists.

Stephen Miller, the man said to have the greatest influence over the president, is—sorry, there's no other way to put it—a dangerous fascist, Trump's Joseph Goebbels, so to speak.

Seen in this light, it's no surprise what's currently happening around Greenland. Trump wants to annex the island to the US, if necessary by military means. He wants it because he can, or as Stephen Miller recently put it in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN: "We live in a world where you can discuss the nice international customs all you want. But the real world is ruled by power and force."

Meanwhile, the US president claims that the US needs Greenland for reasons of national security. "It's strategic," says Trump. "Currently, it's surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships."

That's nonsense. Militarily, the US can already do as it pleases in Greenland. Denmark, a NATO partner to which the island belongs, is placing no obstacles in the Americans' way. The Americans can also easily purchase the mineral resources still hidden beneath the ice, should they ever be extracted.

No, Trump wants Greenland for one reason only: He wants to make history and equal Thomas Jefferson's feat. In 1803, Jefferson bought Louisiana from Napoleon, doubling the territory of the United States in one fell swoop.

Moreover, Greenland is easy prey. Militarily, the US cannot be prevented from annexing the island. Politically, however, the price is very high. Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Prime Minister, speaks plainly: "If the United States were to militarily attack another NATO member, then it's all over."

The military action against Nicolás Maduro is also increasingly proving to be a self-serving project of the president. Trump repeatedly emphasizes that it's all about the oil. He never mentions democracy, and he is even prepared to cooperate with the former cabinet of the Venezuelan dictator.

Even with the oil, things will likely prove difficult. While the Americans have seized Venezuelan oil worth nearly three billion dollars, and Trump intends to personally decide what happens to the money from its sale, this is little more than a drop in the ocean. Indeed, it demonstrates that Trump not only thinks like a mafia boss, but acts like one too. "This is pure imperialism, for which there is no justification," explains Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a professor at Yale Business School, in the Financial Times. "There is absolutely no reason for it. Currently, there is far too much oil on the market."

The situation is complex, even in the long term. While Venezuela possesses the world's largest oil reserves, this oil is difficult to extract and refine. Furthermore, Trump falsely claimed that American oil giants would revitalize Venezuela's dilapidated oil fields. Venezuela is, at best, a potential oil bonanza. Initially, investments in the tens of billions of dollars are needed, and even then, these investments will only be profitable if the oil price reaches at least $80 per barrel. Currently, it is below $60 per barrel.

Moreover, the oil giants will only intervene when they are certain their investments are protected. This is far from certain. Moreover, it is not in the interest of the American oil industry to create an oil glut. Fracking, too, only becomes profitable when the black gold isn't too cheap.

Five years ago, troublemakers attempted to storm the Capitol and prevent the legitimate election of Joe Biden. The Trump administration is not only preventing the installation of a memorial plaque for the police officers who thwarted the attempt. In true Orwellian Newspeak fashion, this event is being reinterpreted on the official White House website. Because they certified Trump's election defeat, the Democrats are labeled the "true insurrectionists." The troublemakers, on the other hand, were "maliciously punished too harshly" and were "hostages for a vindictive regime."

All of this shows that the senile president is on the verge of transforming the USA from a state governed by the rule of law into a mafia state. Trump himself is only interested in his own glorification, his ballroom, his triumphal arch, or in being able to affix his name to as many buildings as possible.

Can this unhinged man still be stopped? The USA are not yet lost, because: Trump is experiencing a slump in the polls. No president has ever been as unpopular after just one year in office. With his policies, for example regarding health insurance premiums, he is frustrating even his own voters.

The Democrats have gained momentum and won all of last year's elections.

The courts are increasingly ruling against the president. Even the conservative-dominated Supreme Court has prohibited him from sending National Guard troops to Chicago. There is also a real possibility that it will overturn Trump's tariffs.

The "No Kings" protest movement is growing and already has more members than the MAGA mob.

Perhaps the most potent antidote to Trump's demented delusions of grandeur is shame. Americans famously see their country as a "shining city on a hill." They see themselves as champions of democracy, the rule of law, and human dignity. Many conservatives are therefore beginning to feel shame. After all, they don't want to be seen as members of a mafia organization—or even as outright fascists like Stephen Miller."

I don't think it matters if he can be stopped. He did a massive amount of damage to the country's reputation his first term and even putting him on the ballot again destroyed any symbolance of international recovery.

Plus he is a symptom of a much larger problem. One of the two dominant US political parties, the GOP, is a Fascist bunch of racist hate filled Nazis.

And I don't just mean just those in office.

Internal trust is also destroyed. frankly, at this point, if you are a stranger to me, I am assuming you are a Nazi.

Yeah... at this point I think our best service to the world is as a cautionary tail of what can happen if you let fear mongering propaganda spread among a large uneducated population. ...then fail to hold leaders accountable for crimes down out in the open.

Not necessarily Jefferson, but one early action was to order the USGS to rename Denali to McKinley. The same President who made America into an empire by defeating Spain and acquiring Puerto Rico, several other islands in the Pacific and Caribbean, and making the Philippines a US dependency until guerilla warfare made us leave. But he is trying to make his mark on the landscape in Washington architecture, geographic names, and territorial expansion. Because that's what gets remembered.

Unless of course you are Jefferson Davis, who had many things named after him as Secretary of War (the uniform worn against the Confederacy was the Jefferson Uniform when adopted) until his name was purged from the landscape. Now half the country knows The Hero of Buena Vista as a traitor while the other half thinks he was a great leader.

Like Isherwood – or “Isherwood” – walking the Berlin streets or looking down from his apartment window, we all – via social media and mobile phone footage – can now have glimpses of an ever-worsening situation in the United States (and also elsewhere).

And again like those reading his narrative, we can put two and two together and realise what is going on in what we don’t glimpse – which is not reported on social (or mainstream) media or recorded on mobile devices.

What happened yesterday to a woman in Minnesota was horrific – and yet we know that it cannot be unique. One can tell that the distinctive quality of this incident is that it was caught on camera when many others are not. There is no reason to believe it was a one-off.

Finally, some balls!

That headline is overstated. It sounds like Meidas Touch which exaggerates things even as bad as they are. From NBC

Five Republicans joined all 47 Democrats in voting yes on the motion to advance the resolution to the Senate floor.
The procedural motion Thursday sets up a full Senate vote on the measure next week; that will also require a simple majority and is expected to pass. It is subject to House approval and a presidential signature, making it unlikely to become law. But it sends a significant message to Trump that could impact his foreign policy moves going forward — in Venezuela and other countries.

... Oh for fuck sake, they need to stop with the fucking posturing and 'sending a message' bullshit they're doing and just fucking use the power they already have to pull the troops back etc.

Shitstain did not have the actual authority or power to pull it. Congress should not have to pass a law and seek his signature to stop it and pull the troops and resources back.

And if he tries to get around it, resist it or say 'no'? Arrest and remove immediately.,

That is what should happen.

Trump and JD Vance Say You Can Expect to Die for Disobeying ICE

Less than 24 hours after a federal immigration officer shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis, the vice president was already positing that the shooting should be used as a kind of litmus test for political office.

“Every congressional democrat and every democrat who’s running for president should be asked a simple question: Do you think this officer was wrong in defending his life against a deranged leftist who tried to run him over?” Vance wrote in a post on X.

“These people are going to try to arrest our law enforcement for doing their jobs. The least the media could do is ask them about it,” he added.

Trump also attempted to defend Good’s murder by sharing a clip from Fox News’s Hannity, where contributor Nicole Parker argued that deadly force was justified when “a vehicle is coming at you and is being used as a weapon.”
Yep, even when it's NOT?

While English juries are generally very ready to acquit armed police officers when they're accused of murder when they shoot and kill someone in the course of their duties, unless the case is so obviously one of legitimate self defence that no reasonable jury could convict, it's established policy (and rightly so) that there's a very strong public interest in maintaining public confidence in law enforcement by having the facts of the matter examined in open court and letting a jury decide rather than the authorities agreeing behind closed doors that the officer did nothing wrong.

Here it is.

‘I don’t need international law’: Trump says power constrained only by ‘my own morality’
Donald Trump has said “I don’t need international law” and that his power is limited only by his “own morality”.

In a new interview with the New York Times, Trump said the only constraint to his power as president of the US is “my own morality, my own mind”.

“It’s the only thing that can stop me,” Trump said, adding: “I’m not looking to hurt people.” He went on to concede “I do” in regards to whether his administration needed to adhere to international law, but said: “It depends on what your definition of international law is.”
Trump, who spoke to the newspaper as his administration looks into “a range of options” in attempts to gain control of Greenland, also emphasized the importance of ownership.

“Ownership is very important,” Trump said, adding: “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success. I think that ownership gives you a thing that you can’t do with, you’re talking about a lease or a treaty. Ownership gives you things and elements that you can’t get from just signing a document.”
The man doesn't want to trade. He doesn't want to make deals. He just wants to own everything, so he can do whatever he wants with it.

Q: Do you see any checks on your power on the world stage? Is there anything that could stop you?

Trump: Yeah there's one thing, my own morality, my own mind. It's the only thing that can stop me.

Q: Not international law?

Trump: I don't need international law.

It's all good. But I want to highlight this paragraph:
In his wild presser yesterday where the Vice President blamed Renee Nicole Good for her own death, Vance confirmed that the regime believes it has entered a post-democratic, post-rule of law age, shockingly asserting that the paramilitaries terrorizing our communities have something called “absolute immunity” - a concept that literally cannot exist in any understanding of a democracy.
