I don't know about current Ukrainian troop deployments of course but until recently at least they were figting side by side with two batallions of Chechen islamist volunteers around Marioupol and by all accounts they seem to be getting along really well.
Maybe the war will help "de-nazify" Ukraine although not the way Putin thinks. After all it's easy to hate somebody you don't really know, much harder when it's somebody you've stood shoulder by shoulder with fighting a common enemy.
"The enemy of the enemy is my friend." I hope you're right and that happens.

My point before we not that Zelensky is Jewish; or not a member of the party Bartholomew mentored, but that Putin is not targeting Nazis. If he were, it would make him harder to hate in some quarters, bur he doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks, only Russia (where he apparently has his own version of MAGAs (MRGAs?) keeping power, and his ego. So anyone he says is a Nazi, is one, for his purposes.
I hope there are enough Russians he hasn't brainwashed. Seeing period saying on video that his brutality is necessary is chilling.

I don't usually go for sheer "feelgood" stories but this one is too good.

Thrusday last week an 18 year old Norwegian boy at work delivering supplies to a Russian trawler was aproached by one of the firshermen who handed him an envelope with "Human help for Ukraine" written on it and signed with two names. When the boy opened the envelope it contained 5000 Norwegian kroner (a little bit more than 550 US dollars), easily a full month's wage for a Russian fisherman.
The money has been handed over to the Norwegian Red Cross and will of course be used for their work in Ukraine.

Source (for those of you who can read Norwegian): Plutselig fikk Emil (18) en konvolutt

And he got huffy that the Joint Chiefs had contingency plans to stop him from starting a war to stay in office.

How to fight Russia, Trump style:

Former president Donald Trump mused Saturday to the GOP’s top donors that the United States should label its F-22 planes with the Chinese flag and “bomb the s--t out of Russia.”

That's how a stable genius operates, definitely not like that wuss like Sleepy Joe! The best of the best of the best, SIR!

So he currently wants to shoot his own boss?
That is a 180 degrees turn since his last announcements about the Ukraine.

Say what you like about Trump but when it comes to inconsistency he really is world class. Even Boris Johnson would have a hard time matching him.

Speaking of Johnson, I've noticed that it seems to be deputy prime minister Raab who is the spokesman for the UK on Ukrainian matters today. Did something happen? Did they finally find a ditch or fridge big enough for Johnson's corpulent body to fit? Did "they" decide it wasn't a good idea to have a known Russian collaborator as their figurehead? Or has he just decided it's time for a vacation?

Johnson tries to avoid TV interviews unless he really can't avoid them, and at weekends he doesn't need a fridge because he's got the government dacha country house Chequers in which to hide.

Oh, I didn't think of that. You know of course the slippery slide to damnation. If you have murdered somebody, it's only a short step from there to commit rape, and then to armed robbery, to fraud, to speeding, to jaywalking... and before you know it, you find yourself working on Sundays. I'm happy to hear mr. Johnson hasn't succumbed to that final step.

Given the choice between spending Sunday morning being waited on hand and foot by flunkies at the taxpayers' expense in a big house in the country and being asked hostile questions by mean journalists, when you've got a deputy to do that for you, which would you choose?

Well, if it was all about keeping up a public image and we for the sake of argument stipulate that the deputy happened to be an imbecile with a chronic foot-in-mouth disease and a personality and charisma comparable to a piece of frozen pizza that had been left on the kitchen counter for three weeks...
...
...
I'm not sure.

From what I've heard, the letters on the vehicles indicate the region that the vehicles entered Ukraine from. They are are as follows, IIRC:

Z = Crimea
V = Belarus
O = the Eastern border (usually Donesk)
EDIT: Almost forgot... I hear a slash like this / means Chechnyan... and from what I hear most of the Chechnyans got got already, so we don't see many of them.

Z is not a letter in the Cryllic alphabet, so I think the only reason they chose it is because it's easy to write, like V and O are. The Russians in that tweet with the Z on their shirts are probably from Crimea. From what I understand, the nazis in Ukraine are all in the south and east, so finding nazi russian soldiers in Crimea isn't that shocking.

I just wanted to say that I love listening to Brits talk about their leaders... It's just a more witty version of how Americans talk about ours.
