Another nail getting the hammer: New York's AG is officially closing the Trump Foundation down and distributing what funds remain to suitable charities. The legal cases against Trump et al will continue unabated. Trump's troubled foundation to shut down
CNN had this:

Trump Foundation agrees to dissolve under court supervision

The lawsuit will continue in court because it also seeks two other outcomes: $2.8 million in restitution, plus penalties, and a ban on Trump and his three eldest children serving on the board of any other New York nonprofit.
"Our petition detailed a shocking pattern of illegality involving the Trump Foundation -- including unlawful coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more. This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump's business and political interests," Underwood said in a statement Tuesday.

I'm betting that Donald Trump takes personal credit for all the donations made by the NY AG using Trump Foundation funds, after suitably magnifying the amounts, of course.

Flynn got thrown for a loop today during his sentencing hearing. He has been more cooperative than anyone else with the federal investigation so far, and the SCO recommended little-to-no jail time, so I guess everyone was expecting a relatively straightforward proceeding today. Welp.

Flynn's team submitted a statement admitting that he lied to the FBI on key matters, but for some reason chose to include a kind of disclaimer, asserting that he wasn't made aware at the time of the full legal consequences of lying to the FBI during his interview. The judge, Emmet Sullivan, appeared to be greatly affronted by this and was very explicit about his disgust. He directly asked Flynn's attorney, on the record, if Flynn had been entrapped into lying by the FBI, which Flynn's attorney was forced to answer "No". Flynn's team then moved to request a delay in sentencing, due to his "continued cooperation" with the SCO, which the judge granted. Which was a very good thing for Flynn I imagine; I don't think I'd want a judge to be deciding my sentence while so very obviously enraged at me.

By the way, Judge Sullivan is the same judge who, when he learned that the government had gone ahead and deported a man anyway after his deportation had been ordered stayed by the court, issued an emergency order demanding that the plane turn around and come back to the US.

Remember the brouhaha with that entire courthouse floor locked down? Seems this just emerged in the aftermath.

The court did a maddeningly competent job of framing this decision in a way that removes every possible identifying detail or context from this decision. I couldn't even guess about who the defendant company is, what country owns it, or what even the case at hand regards. It does seem to drastically change the story painted by the "mystery witness fighting a Mueller subpoena" speculation that surrounded the closing of the courthouse, but...maybe not?

We should have a betting pool. Dibs on Saudi Arabia, given the closeness members of the royal family have with Saudi businesses.

I say Russian. Probably an oil or gas company controlled by a Putin ally doing business in Ukraine. Just speculation but that would intersect with Manafort.

And somebody already called Deutsche Bank.

I'm on Team Saud also, if only because of that Mueller team member being present, with Arabic expertise.

It doesn't sound like DB - AFAIK, that's a completely private entity, and I'd imagine Germany wouldn't be resisting any legitimate calls for information.

Definitely not Deutsche Bank, Germany might be a shareholder (afaik Germany owns a smaller percentage of the Commerzbank, a daughter of Deutsche Bank), but it's definitely not "country-owned", the majority of shareholders are private and corporate investors.

My bet is on Russia, too. According to wikipedia, state-owned companies "account for 40% of the capitalization on the Russian stock market, one of the highest shares in the world".

Trump claims that his Wall will save "BILLIONS of dollars a month once completed." A month!

Yep, he's done lost it!
Not gazillions? He thinks small.

[In actuality it is the opposite, even if the wall were free. It will increase net immigration since people will not go back as much. Which means more money will need to be spent on ICE if he wants to keep the same levels of undocumented people as before the wall.]

I'd call the number and say something else but no use getting put on a list for little result.
Yeah, I would be tempted to call and thank Mueller but my name would just get on his donor list and if donnie is using those messages as an ego boost they would just save the 'thanks' part.
