This type of conservative usually has no argument to make. They know if they get into an actual coherent argument with a liberal, they'll lose. I see it all the time on social media these past several years: Every time a liberal starts dissecting a conservative's (especially a pro-Trumper's) argument, the conservative resorts to babble and insults.

I'm not sure they do know. They have this mental image of liberals which they get from their right wing echo chamber and that's what they think they're talking to, like the Twitter ran do who told me I only wore a mask because the government told me to. They think as long as they get their talking points in they've "owned" you and you're "triggered".

They say certain things from "the list" to you, but they're not really even talking to you, they're just creating an "I put a lib in their place" post for their own followers to see and hopefully validate with some likes. There's no point in engaging; to them you're just an NPC in their computer-game.

On this note, they often won't respond to what you say, they'll respond to what right wing media told them liberals believe... I've literally been told before that they think liberals are a hivemind. They know how manipulated you are by the media, because right wing media told them so!

This thread got me thinking about how a lot of new conservatives and alt-righters seem to have no real consistent ideology other than "Yo, fuck liberals!" At least libertarians had an ideology and positions... I've encountered alt right people who are very non interventionalist ...but they often have weird militaristic ideas. They are also all over the place on economic issues. Some even sound like leftists or union good old boys when they talk about the rich, and some believe in libertarian style economics...

I think the left realised long ago that, rather than collapsing under the weight of its internal contradictions, capitalism is proving pretty adept at evolving, since people continue to need to be able to need banks and credit.

Some of the far right, however, look forward to the imminent collapse of decadent liberal democracy in the US and elsewhere, which they to think has already started, and they're gleefully participating in bringing it about.

They may well disagree about what's supposed to happen next, but that's not really their main concern.

Like Brexit, only more so, and with guns, too.
