I just looked in on Twitter, and there's an explosion of bot accounts trashing remdesevir. Dating the exact same thing.
And the anti -vax bots going into overdrive trashing the mRNA vaccines.
Do they really believe their bullshit, or do they want people to die?

Interview with Jonathan Van-Tam, the UK's Deputy Chief Medical Officer:

“If your gaming PC develops a fault, don’t take it to a plumber and ask them to fix it. Find somebody who, you know, is properly qualified to fix it, and has the expertise and the training to give you the advice about what is wrong or what needs doing. And it’s the same with information about the pandemic, go to trusted sources.

“You know, why would you believe somebody who’s, I don’t know, a pop star or an actress or actor … Why would you believe them about something deeply significant in terms of biomedical science if they don’t have the training and background to give you that opinion? That’s all I’d say. And I just don’t think it’s right to give the nonsense any airtime.”

The phrase ["health disadvantage"] describes a paradox: the US houses among the most advanced medical and research centers in the world, but performs poorly in basic health metrics such as maternal mortality and infant mortality; accidental injury, death and disability; and chronic and infectious disease.

“So much of the whole issue of social determinants of health and the US ‘health disadvantage’ is rooted in a lack of trust and a lack of trustworthiness in many parts of our society,” said Laudan Y Aron, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute’s health policy center.

Americans know intuitively that their healthcare is expensive, frustrating and often unfair. Remarkably, even amid the pandemic, roughly 30 million Americans went without health insurance, exposing them to potentially ruinous medical debt.

“It’s also really interesting how often the messaging is: talk to your doctor, talk to someone you trust,” said Aron. “Yet, we don’t really acknowledge how many people don’t have a doctor, or a doctor they have a trust-based relationship with them”.

“Even the term ‘vaccine hesitancy’ kind of rubs me the wrong way,” she said. “It’s a term that really puts the onus on the individual and the choices he or she is making,” as opposed to focusing on the systemic issues driving poor vaccine uptake.
People want to have the freedom not only to allow themselves to die from a disease, but increase the risk of their relatives and friends to die from the disease,” he concluded.
Not just their friends and relatives. I saw a meme with a bunch of masked people asking an unmasked person whether his freedom was me important than their safety, and he just says yes. This was shared in a way that made it clear the tweeter agreed with the meme.
So that attitude is, "mah freedumb and fuck you".
They also perform some impressive mental gymnastics to justify their stance that they're smart not to vaccinate, and that they are protecting their family, like the guy who kicked the parents of the CO kid out of his restaurant.
Case in point :

I'm old enough to remember kids in wheelchairs and on crutches from polio. It was pretty easy to see why the vaccine was a good thing. A few years from now, all the dead and Long COVID survivors will make it easy to see why this vaccine is good too.
Can’t wait for the dudes wearing sunglasses in cars doing ranty videos about Life Unworthy of Life.

At age 10 I spent 3 weeks in a polio ward after a mis-diagnosis. Having seen the actual polio sufferers, including the guy in the 'iron lung', I haven't subsequently rejected any vaccine I've been offered.

This is both horrifying and terrifying.

tl:dr - Her father suffered a fall and during the course of rehabilitation contracted pneumonia, which the overworked hospital staff didn't catch. He collapsed in his room and wasn't found for six hours. He was then intubated simply because the staff was stretched too thin to deal with him. He's now fighting for his life.
