Steps:
1: Follow a Classified in world and Teleport
2: Fall from sky to ground.
3: Check land info to see if it's still the right place, it is, and most prims are used.
4: Determine the shop got moved up and the classified wasn't updated.
5: Find owner profile to send a friendly 'Hey dude!".
6: Find profile full of rules on how to approach His Lordship and a lengthy list of pet peeves.
7: Nope the fuck out and lol about it on VV0.

sometimes I wonder how long SL creators would survive within the RL competitive market

Since real life doesn't provide one the opportunity to create multiple "business" alts...

I keep track of a number of the weekly sales events for the occasional interesting item that shows up for L$25-L$99 or whatever.

When it comes to discounted clothing, I'm rarely drawn to the fatpack. 1-2 colors of something is often more than plenty for me. However, a store - which I hadn't heard of before but apparently has been around for some time - has some pretty good looking wintery/work boots in one of the weekend sales, something my alt could wear often, and so....I look for the demo.

There's a prominent "TRY DEMO BEFORE PURCHASING" sign below the vendor(s). So there has to be one, right?

Nothing happens clicking on NEW. And nope, the big boot sign up top is the fatpack. Where is...

Wait a minute. The fatpack is ALSO THE DEMO. And it's on purpose, because the name of the fatpack vendor is "BRAND BOOT NAME + DEMO."

Oh well, I guess some of those lindens will go toward the pies and pie "safe" I found on FLF, and the rest stays with me!

I usually just "see object inworld" on MP, then get TP'd home by the new tenants 0s warning security orb and loose interest :p

Honestly the only reason I have business alts is because of the whole brand issues with mesh bodies. Like I moved all of the clothes for Piggu to its own store, so no one would accidentally buy it for a non Piggu avatar.

Easy fix: “all products sold as-is, all sales final, no refunds, no support”

ratings don’t do a single thing for your sales. People have to dig through ALL results to find stuff anyway.

3, 4, 5 stars? Who cares, people only make sure it's not 1 or 2.

Time spent on customer support isn't worth the extra half a star that has no impact on sales.

Interacting with my customers was a compelling part of role-playing a businessman in SL. People responded so favorably to the slightest bit of kindness from a vendor, and it felt good, and if some of them were "ripping me off" for a dollar's worth of virtual bits... so what? I certainly wasn't doing it for the pennies-an-hour net when I can spend the same time on RL contracts. RL contract programming rates beat the heck out of anything I can get in SL.

I only turned my main into a business alt when I started getting spammed by customers of people reselling my open source code.

Yeah I don't roleplay anything. It's not a business and I don't want to spend time making people think it's one.

99.9% of businesses in Second Life are 100% role playing. If you just want to make stuff and share it, make it full perm and L$0. If you charge for it, you're role-playing a business.

So they're cosplaying a really discounted Elon Musk.

I'm cosplaying someone running one of those surplus stores with a bit of everything including stuff you'd never imagine wanting

I think this is somewhat true... I only check reviews to make sure someone isn't saying it flat doesn't work as advertised... Which does sometimes happen. I find that leaving a 1 star review and saying it doesn't work often gets the vendor's attention and usually a refund or a fixed version.

That said, I will ignore bad reviews and potentially still buy a product that has a 1 star review for a dumb reason. For example, this one prison skybox I saw a while back had a 1 star review because it didn't have some sort of bondage script that it never claimed to have? I was confused.
