Since the developers are programmers and probably not mechanics or some such, I suspect it's a case of not fully knowing what a tool is.
In Murica that might have been an excuse, but they are Poles... I really doubt that as almost all ex-commie nations have an above average mechanical aptitude in the general population. Then again most folks involved in the game might be members of the international migrating workforce known as game developers (maybe we should call them IT-hobos :geek:).

I'm sorry, but even I -- who have NO APITITUDE for mechanics or repairs -- know the difference between a monkey wrench and a socket wrench. This isn't arcane knowledge, it's barely above the difference between a hammer and a pair of pliers.

Poles have different words for adjustable (i.e. monkey) and socket wrenches. So it can't be a "translation" error.

I suspect if you did a survey asking what a monkey wrench is, an appreciable percentage couldn't tell you.

If that's true, then our society is doomed, doomed I say.

Seems even Google images is confused but who cares?

Anyway it's a good excuse to leave this here.

I have a tattoo of the patent drawing for the first adjustable wrench (crossed with a pair of tailor's scissors).

I've mostly enjoyed my time so far with Cyberpunk 2077. I figured the game was going to be a disaster on release and wasn't planning to buy it for several months at least. Then I saw Google was offering a bundle of a Chromecast Ultra, wireless Stadia controller, and the game, just for the price of the game. I figured, why not? No regrets. I filed it under "Christmas presents I wasn't planning to get and therefore pleasantly surprised myself." 🎅🎄

The game plays quite well over Stadia, both on PC and the Chromecast hooked up to the big-screen TV. There's noticeable compression artifacts at times, especially with all the red UI text, but most of the time it's acceptable. Hoo-boy is the game buggy as hell, though. Fun, but buggy. 🐛 For now I'm playing the game while I exercise on my stationary bike. It's a good way to pass the time. I don't know if I'll ever buy any more games through Stadia, but for now I'm not against the idea.

I'd have to ask, "You mean a Pipe Wrench or something else?"
The picture shows what I'd assume is a pipe wrench (can't see if the jaws are serrated)

It's definitely of the adjustable plumber's wrench type meant for working with pipe fittings.

To be fair, for a real mechanic, everything is a hammer...

True story.

One of the recruitment questions for the British Army in the 70's was a picture of a hammer, a screwdriver and a hand saw and the question was which one would you use to knock a nail in with.

Too damn often my hammer mysteriously appears AFTER I've given up trying to find it and done the pounding-task with something hammer-enough.

It may also be worth mentioning that game designers are often not programmers but artsy types. I think this could have been an error from a graphic artist or a translator as much as a programmer.

Unless the mechanic is a true kid of the 80s, then there only is one Hammer and you won't be able to touch this...

Here is a true story though: a frind of mine who is a plumber (and you would expect an artisan like this to know the way around the very basic tools of other trades too) once asked me for a solution and offered him to fix that thing ASAP if he could hand me a pair of nail pulling pliers,... poor guy had no idea of that tool. I needed to ask his brother where they kept the pliers in the house.

Back to Cyberpunk:
Who else missed picking up the Satori katana because you have to behave totaly irrational to get it?

... and also: Are the numerous NDAs we find in the game a covert cry for help by the developer wageslaves?
