Don't cheeve on my choice, dude.So I don't see any post-Gorean period as viable.
Mostly to everybody. In most time periods it's awesome to be one of the folks on the top, and shit to be one of the folks who aren't on the top.As a historian, I'll say they've all been shyte to somebody. Often nearly everybody. At least now we have better technology and easy access to coffee.
Given the standards of the times, even royalty didn't have it so good compared to a middle-class 1st world citizen of today. But for everyone else, it was even worse, so I guess "awesome" is relative.Mostly to everybody. Life sucked even at the top back then. Four out of seven of Henry VIII's siblings died in infancy, along with 2 of 7 of Katherine of Aragon's. Only one of six of Henry & Katherine's children survived (Mary). Henry suffered from a festering wound for 12 years (jousting accident), which contributed to his death at age 55. Pope Clement VII, who excommunicated Henry over ditching Katherine, lasted only a year longer, to die at 56.Mostly to everybody. Narnia wouldn't be too bad..... even the 'human' monsters aren't as bad as what we have now. And yeah, I think I'd like to be a teen/young adult in the mid-late 60s.... at least long enough to enjoy the music scene.Real life: if I could "hand wave" my diabetes and didn't have to worry about hospitals, meds, etc, I would live to experience the 50's and early 60's. Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, early college protests, etc.
SciFi: Niven's "Known Space".
Fantasy: Ugh uh. NaNo. Too many monsters. No. Thanks anyways, I'll take the T-Shirt.
Thanks, Sid.The most fascinating to read about for me are the Middle Ages.
Why me?Thanks, Sid.
I would note the question in the OP is "what is your favourite historical period and why?"
Not "Which historical period would you like to live in?"
