1. If you could go back to the day you signed up for SL, would you do it again?
Yes. Somebody here pestered me until I couldn't take it anymore and I signed up. I don't regret a minute of it :)

2. If so, what in SL would you do more or less the same (eg: owning a sim, running a group, becoming a creator, getting involved in a business, getting partnered, etc) and what would you do differently?
I'd be more social and less concerned about what others would think.

3. If you’ve left, do you wish you had left sooner? Or do you at times miss it and feel tempted to go back?
I think I left at the right time and came back at the right time, too. Having been gone for so long, I've been able to see it in a different way and I think I'm enjoying it a lot more.

In the end, like many have said, it's all about the connections you make with the people you meet, and I have made some that have impacted my life in many ways :)

P.S. *You* look like Melania Trump, not me :p

1. Would definitely do it again, and sooner if I could have.
2. Would still create although with a lean towards apparel instead of buildings etc. I'd partner again but with more emphasis on being friends than having pixel smex. I only partnered twice in 12 years. Now for what I'd do differently....avoid being a landlord...I was better at flipping land than carrying tenants and paying for their SL enjoyment. Oh, and I wouldn't get into an argument with a Linden over money with my main 12yr old avi...now banned *smacks forehead*.
3. I'm still inworld with another legacy avi but I don't log in as much although I enjoy it when I do...but I really miss the people that made my SL so much fun.

I would actually play longer then once a few months, from when I joined in 2008. I was younger then the official age limit and, if memory serves correct, was on the Teen Grid. I should have faked credentials to get on the regular grid because imagine secondlife, but with even fewer problem solving skills, even more drama, and even less taste in mainland builds.

#1 for me would be to have a prettier more fashionista-y name. Go Premium and get landed sooner. Become part of the Steamlands social scene earlier. Join SLU earlier.

  1. Yes I would definitely sign up again, in Beta, like Eggy.
  2. Group participation and projects I wouldn't change at all. My original personal plan was to build small parks for people to use because there were buildings and roads and planes and boats but very little landscaping. A do over might involve reviving that idea, and sticking to it, rather than consolidating to a single sim and operating a tree shop all those years. Knowing the end result, I would not waste time trying to work with Linden Lab; and I would keep all of the profits rather than pumping most of them back into the project. Also I would've bought four life accounts instead of just one (technically two because Jarod Godel has left his tier in the Fate Gardens group TY Jarod!)
  3. While I don't participate regularly any longer, that doesn't preclude me logging in and puttering around the villa that I still need to finish, and perusing the map for available land like I'm actually going to purchase it, and thinking about doing some inworld harping, and visiting the odd oldbie that appears online.

So I think just about every one here is, or was, a Second Life resident. I myself logged in daily from 2007 to about 2013, then tapered to a couple times a week, then once a week, then...some of you know how it goes.

So before I give away too much of my answers, here are the questions:

1. If you could go back to the day you signed up for SL, would you do it again?
Absolutely. I've loved my time in SL and the people I've gotten to know.

2. If so, what in SL would you do more or less the same (eg: owning a sim, running a group, becoming a creator, getting involved in a business, getting partnered, etc) and what would you do differently?
If I could know what my mistakes were I'd not do them. Of course that means different mistakes, but se la vie.

Thinking about it, I'd wouldn't have gotten my own place. Being homeless made me more social as i was forced to hobo it on my favorite sims. But then I wouldn't have a spot for my little memorial for Yuki, so I'd likely do that the same too.

I'm still logging in at least once on my days off and making time for social obligations, so the 3rd question isn't applicable for me.

Yes, and I wouldn't have lost my beta acct info, or failing that, stopped logging in to my oldest still account for 5 years, and instead focused on making an -early- business. Maybe then, I wouldn't have been lost in all the later businesses.

I'd avoid a certain well-known gadfly like the plague. Getting tangled up in the FIC wars, especially when I already had a full plate in RL, was a terrible and brainless path to take.

1) Yes

2) Would have become premium and bought land much sooner rather than just renting.

3) Haven't left yet and at this point have no desire to leave. It is my stress relief to escape from RL for a few hours and I still enjoy it so much.

1. If you could go back to the day you signed up for SL, would you do it again? Nope, nope, nope

2. If so, what in SL would you do more or less the same (eg: owning a sim, running a group, becoming a creator, getting involved in a business, getting partnered, etc) and what would you do differently? probably everything the same.. you know what they say about signs of madness

3. If you’ve left, do you wish you had left sooner? nope Or do you at times miss it and feel tempted to go back? yes, it's been 6 1/2 years since I shut everything down and walked away but I still have the urge. A couple of times a year I go in and the pull is strong.

1. If you could go back to the day you signed up for SL, would you do it again? Absolutely. It has been a great experience meeting amazing, creative, intelligent people ... peppered with the occasional flying penis.

2. If so, what in SL would you do more or less the same (eg: owning a sim, running a group, becoming a creator, getting involved in a business, getting partnered, etc) and what would you do differently? I would have learned more about sculpties. I kind of backed off right at the time sculpties were becoming popular. I also would have spent more time scripting. Problem was, I just ran out of time in RL. I was studying for a certification (which I have since obtained) and things got so different in SL that I just could not afford to expend the time to catch up.

3. If you’ve left, do you wish you had left sooner? Or do you at times miss it and feel tempted to go back? I never did leave, I just tapered off a lot and yes, I hop back in on occasions. I guess if they had some classes in scripting or sculpties that I was interested in, I'd jump back in.

Heck yeah! Sometimes I wish I joined sooner, but I'm also glad that I didn't. I probably would have been an annoying pest if I joined in say, 2010.

I wish I explored more and actually found a niche that encouraged me to stay. I also wish I picked up Blender sooner and stuck with it.

I don't regret leaving when I did. I still feel the urge to go back, but I'm not really in a rush. The time I spent in SL revealed a lot of things about myself I had no idea were there, and now that I've had the time to figure myself out, I'll come back when I'm ready.
