What's all this about High Fidelity pivoting?

Earlier this month, according to Inara Pey's blog, High Fidelity did some kind of micro-pivot, shutting down all its public spaces and thus directing strategic focus on... something else.

At this point the discussion loses me in non-quant MBA-speak, so I can't tell if this is just another nail in the VR coffin or somehow a step toward growth. Does anybody understand what's really going on?

“Pivot” is appropriately polite terminology for it.

In simple words: High Fidelity makes no money. Investors don't want to burn more money, so they are cutting costs. A new business model which makes money needs to be found, otherwise it's probably game over soon.
