I had something like that in the '70s, but it was Japanese and really meant to be worn over a yukata, which neither I nor the person who gave it to me as a birthday gift knew at the time. It was kind of uncomfortable on bare skin. I'd go for cotton instead of silk.

Yeah silk is so weird. Like, it's extremely soft and delicate-feeling, so it SHOULD feel comfortable and luxurious, but at the same time it's super....I don't know, porous or something? So when it slides on your skin it hangs up dramatically on the most microscopic little flecks and imperfections, which to me anyways is just annoying and even irritating. Like, imagine your sock hanging up on a sharp toe-nail, except on your arm instead of your foot and instead of something obvious like a toe-nail it's something that's so small it can't be seen with the naked eye.
