I am playing the new Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. TDU started the trend of open world urban games, and it has been 13 years since the last one. It is one of my favorite series, so I am excited to have a new one to play. This one is set in Hong Kong, and it is gorgeous. I am really happy with it.

I don't know how or why, but last week I ended up watching a bunch of Crusader King III videos on YouTube. Then, roughly 53.5 hours ago I noticed it was for sale ultra cheap on Steam. So I bought all of it. I say "roughly 53.5 hours ago" because that's the game time I've logged so far. It's possible I'm going to be like that kid in Korea who was found dead in a cafe. After gaming to death (actually, going to sleep now, but, almost).

I'm now up to 131.4 hours. Current character is 93. Still going strong. Started playing 867, currently 942. I've been "Ruling" for 75 years. "Ruling" because I'm an adventurer. I've been almost everywhere. Had a ton of kids who are mostly now dead. My great great grand children are adults.

ETA: oh, and no, I'm not Immortal (which is, apparently, an option now).
ETA: At least I don't think I'm immortal. I'm 107 now.

Wandered into India. Saw a nice already 17 Developed plot of land, took it. Then realized "taking it" means putting a bunch of money into building the place up, then burning it to the ground. Yay? Weird. So got a holding. Dropped from Duchess down to Countess by doing this, but, eh. Then took out roughly 10,000 soldiers and became independent. While trying to figure out how to stop losing money from taxes (and rapidly "setting things right") I learned that I was correct. I was not an immortal. I died from, eh, being super young.

So, born May 3 849, died January 1 971 at the age of 122. Was a ruler for 104 years. All, 8, of my children died long before me. 10 grandchildren died before me. 4 grandchildren survived me. 3 Great grandchildren survived me. 14 great grandchildren survived me (0 died before me). 4 great great grandchildren survived me.

ack. There were people hiding under + signs. Okay, 23 great grandchildren survived me (0 dead). They were hiding because 10 of them are in two different houses.

A couple of games Inplayed through recently.

A Highland Song

Last game I finished before this was Celeste. Apparently I am on a weird unintentional kick of "women dealing with their inner turmoil by climbing mountains.". Because thats the theme of both games.

I enjoyed this game, its pretty, it sounds nice, its has an interesting story. But its also quite tedeous. You are basically lost in the mountains with no real map or guidance besides these cryptic maps you find, and the maps are not real helpful in reallying telling you where to go, just, that there is an alternative path somewhere.

The Forest Quartet

Fairly short. I think it was a free game on Epic. You play as the spirit of a dead member of The Forest Quartet. You have to travel through sorr of, alternate versions of the forest and help clear up your former bandmate's inner suffering. You solve a bunch of simple puzzles on the way. Its nice looking, its got decent sound going on, but I kind of feel like it could have been more for a game about a bunch of musicians.

My gaming time is reduced... my HVAC doesn't work in the daytime and there's -very- noisey construction going on across the street so I bug out as soon as I'm dressed for as many hours as possible.

Fortunately I have a new tablet to keep me entertained, I've sorta fallen back into Fallout Shelter just for something to kill the time.

At home, I'm mostly playing Cyberpunk 2077(I haven't finished Phantom Liberty yet), Satisfactory, Vampire Survivors and one very specific map in 'Particle Fleet Emergence' which has just the right flow/zen/solitaire fix for me when I wanna kill 10min.

Right now I'm playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and I really have to say that I've completely lost track of how many Nazis I've punched. Like, it's a LOT.

I have played almost nothing but Infinity Nikki for months now.

I am kind of addicted to it, I have collected all of the map collectibles, crafted all of the clothing except like 3 outfits. Upgraded a lot of them to max level.

Its a lot of fun.

Thanks for the tip! I just downloaded it a couple of hours ago. It looks like a load of fun.

I had forgotten about it, but at some point signed up for Google's "Notify me when this releases." Then I got notified. Then I discovered it was on PC via Epic (Soon Steam), which is way prettier than on a phone.

I expected a kind of shallow dress up game, but it has a lot of good platforms and puzzles and the story is surprisingly pretty compelling. I guess in the larger lore Nikki is essentially a sorcereress who uses magic through fashion. They used to call Stylists "Whimmancers" in the older games I think, because they could "harness the power of whim."

Anyway, there is some goofy memes stuff in the plot, and a whole lot of "This bright and friendly world is hiding some kind of f'ed up twisted shit under it."

The dress up system is pretty top notch, the world is huge and fun to explore, the abilities are good. My only complaint is the combat is super weak, but I suspect over time they may add more combat ability outfits. It has a gatcha system for monetization, but the game really showers you with gems for pulls, and it gives you a ton of outfits and pieces that are not gatcha items that it feels full even if you never pull for outfits

Also, I played since launch, I have no idea how it works for new players, but if it pushes you to the fireworks island, just keep in mind this was essentially the "first big patch" so that may feel slightly out of order for plot. Though it doesn't really relate to the main plot.

2009?
Hearts of Iron IV got a new expansion where you can remake the Persian Empire, so I am doing that.

Satisfactory 1.1 "Experimental" Branch was released today.

Also, Stable release or Experimental today has a lot of fun/silly "April Fool's Day" from previous years return (super sized lizardoggos, mini-whalestriders, bobble-headed players, etc).

Not counting a couple of idle clickers which end up running in the background 24/7 sometimes...

I've racked up 4166 hours in Satisfactory. 2414 in Elder Scrolls Online. 1013 in Cyberpunk 2077. 750 in Hardspace Shipbreaker

Haven't looked at time played in a long while.

Can't get the time for certain ones, like Doom (which I played a lot in the '90s), WoW, The Sims, Second Life, Star Trek Online, etc.

According to Steam:
Crusader Kings III - 987.4 hours - History Simulator

Cities Skylines - 251 hours (last played 03/11/2021) - City Simulator

College Kings 1 & 2 - 26.6 hours + 14.4 hours - College/University Simulator (18+)

Sid Meier's Civ VI - 33.6 (only counts the time played in 2025) - Civilization Simulator

Desert Stalker - 21.4 hours - Post-Apocalyptic Simulator (18+)
(can seem to find the release trailer for this one off Steam)
Can find the music from the game, and game-play videos, but not release trailer.
Desert Stalker - Arabian Nights

Leap of Faith - 15.5 hours - Slice of Life Simulator (18+)
Drifty Games - Leap of Faith [Game Teaser] - [Music by Daniel Garavini]

Goat Simulator - 6.4 hours (last played 11/6/2015) - Goat Simulator/Zombie Simulator
Goat Simulator Official Launch Trailer

Weird how official release trailers don't really highlight what the game actually has the player do in the game. Like Crusader Kings III kind of implies there is, at least at some point in the game-play, 3D simulation elements. And I want to play whatever game Civ VI is advertising for (Civ VI is not a 3D Simulation game, at least not like in the trailer). Goat Simulator seems closet to actual gameplay.
