For some reason I can't seem to get this song out of my head the last few days. The band's name is confusing since there are two Marthas. One of them was the backup singer for Roxy Music's Avalon. One poster says she is now a professor at the Ontario College of Art and Design. [citation needed]
The song is a little peculiar since clearly lines like "My job is really boring I'm an office clerk" were envisioning someone else's reality. No office clerks in that band, they were art students.

"It's a habit of mine, to watch the suh go down."

Then there is the rather spooky 30th anniversary version. It is different, much slower. It is as though Martha is thinking of her own song "far away in time".

Bwahaha! I'd forgotten about this group and song. It's particularly funny because, umm, they are Australians in 1975 and seem rather effeminate and the audience rocks with it.

There are few songs as heavy duty as this. Diamanda Galas has quite a few terrifying songs, some Phil Ochs songs especially The Crucifixion, Incubus Sucubus Rape of Maude Bowen, a few others. Certainly not for all tastes.
