‘Wednesday’ co-creators promise a speedy delivery of Season 3 after delayed second installment: “The aim is for Season 3 to come much faster”

In a recent interview with DECIDER, the co-creators explained that a series of unforeseen circumstances were at play when it came to the sophomore season of the Jenna Ortega hit series, including the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strikes. With those delays out of the way, they say “the goal” is for the turnaround from Season 2 to Season 3 to be expedited.

“Obviously, we want it sooner than three years. The show is very difficult to make. I know it sounds like we only have eight episodes, but each episode is like a movie in terms of — we have over 3000 visual effects shots, it takes us nine months to shoot the show. So it is a big show. It’s like a behemoth in terms of getting the show made,” Millar told DECIDER. “We share everyone’s frustrations in terms of the time it’s taken to get back on the air. But the aim is for Season 3 to come much faster. That’s definitely our goal.”

I absolutely loved this season, and in response to your spoiler...
Sorta more like a coat hanger than a cliff hanger... given that we weren't invested in that aspect of her world until moments before the end of the episode. =D

Just finished and we loved it. The first half of the season tries a bit too hard with the Hot Topic Hogwarts school traditions and such, but once they settle into the plot it is good to see more of the family and the new characters. Grandmama Patsy is wonderful. The stalker is a delight: wondering if they might add a third to the large room Wednesday and Enid share as they build up the team.

Mrs. Quandry already dislikes Steve Bucemi, and he played the perfect irritant. I promised her they were setting him up for a spectacular death. Glad I was right about that one.

Been thinking about that...
Going forward, I expect the enid rescue to resolve relatively quickly. The school is such a massive part of the show that I can't imagine them being away from it for long. I'm certain bringing Enid back will set her up for her own complicated story arc that in some way mirrors Wednesday's 'aunt Ophelia' trajectory.

Neither of which may a strong use for Agnes and her abilities, she's probably entering a trial-and-error stage of self-discovery which will probably have some collateral damage along the way. She'll need to establish a stronger sense of self, along with a theme/style more than her hair color and large eyes to be a full 'third' of a trio. Once she has a style (likely blood red or something and filled with eyes, who knows), maybe then they'll find a way to stylistically divide the big round web/window into 3 parts.

Though it's just as likely she'll be more of a background character. Those big eyes and vanishing/appearing effects likely add to their special effects budget, she'll have to have a big story impact/pay-off to justify the higher cost of using the character. :)

The continued development of every member of the Addams Family -- but especially Thing -- was quite the treat. They packed SO MUCH into this second season. Whew!

Pugsley often gets little mention in the midst of all the melodrama, but I have to say his character development was another surprise. He's a disconcerting mix of repulsive and yet oddly endearing qualities.
I was so certain that the woman Wednesday released from the asylum basement would be her aunt that I was (deliciously) caught by surprise that she was actually Tyler's mother. That was a deliberate (and successful) red herring trail since otherwise we would all would have seen that coming. After the finale, I would assume that Aunt Ophelia is locked up in Grandmama's house instead, but I'm less certain of that now given how sly they are in setting us up for a surprise.

I will be surprised if Enid isn't recued in the first episode. I do think they have plans for Agnes the way she was bickering with Enid. Having two friends would be taxing for Wednesday (I know it is for me) and that seems to be something they can work with for character growth next season.

I am caught up on Season 2.

So there us apparently a Fester spin off, and Wednesday and Fester left to find Enid. I almoat wonder if they will sort of pull a Book of Boba Fett and resolve the hunt in the Fester series, then just, return to School the next year.
