Oopsies.

The entire source code for Anthropic’s Claude Code command line interface application (not the models themselves) has been leaked and disseminated, apparently due to a serious internal error. The leak gives competitors and armchair enthusiasts a detailed blueprint for how Claude Code works—a significant setback for a company that has seen explosive user growth and industry impact over the past several months.

Early this morning, Anthropic published version 2.1.88 of Claude Code npm package—but it was quickly discovered that package included a source map file, which could be used to access the entirety of Claude Code’s source—almost 2,000 TypeScript files and more than 512,000 lines of code.

Keeping their eyes on the prize.

OpenAI has struck a deal to acquire TBPN, a technology-focused talk show popular in Silicon Valley, making an unexpected move into broadcasting after pledging to abandon “side quests” and focus on its core business.
This move feels pretty sus to me.

This is a headline I want in framed poster format to hang on a wall:

Sam Altman’s Coworkers Say He Can Barely Code and Misunderstands Basic Machine Learning Concepts
Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO and the public face of ChatGPT, has carved out an image for himself as one of the preeminent AI whisperers of our age, whose influence supposedly extends to the White House on the strength of his ideas alone.

Or at least that’s the image he’s managed to cultivate. A new exposé in the New Yorker paints a different portrait, and it’s substantially more vexing. Drawing on interviews with numerous OpenAI insiders who worked with Altman, the article portrays the CEO not as a technical wiz, but as a skilled manipulator — and one with a surprisingly shallow grasp of the AI systems his company is building.

The cover "photo" accompanying the New Yorker piece is an absolute wonder of A.I. hallucinatory nightmares.

Even better, the version on New Yorker's website is animated... :hellokitty:

Software tech CEOs who moved their products to a subscription model were not thinking big enough.

Tempted to start a new "The A.I. Business Wars" thread.

Apple on Friday sued OpenAI in federal court in Northern California, alleging trade secret theft, saying that the artificial intelligence lab took the iPhone maker’s intellectual property in order to develop its own consumer hardware.

“This much is clear, however: at every level, from members of its Technical Staff to its Chief Hardware Officer, and in coordination with business partners, OpenAI has been stealing Apple’s trade secrets and confidential information,” the company said in a legal filing.
Oh my. So Apple is claiming OpenAI has no respect for IP. How could anyone have ever suspected that...
